Rocky Balboa Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Damn....Still can't play short deliveries after so many years of international cricket.
Crookbond Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 The only problem is that today's dismissal was not due to a short ball. :giggle: Phir bhi, der aaye durust aaye! :two_thumbs_up:
velu Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 He played like it was a short delivery he was expecting a short delivery :giggle:
Crookbond Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 It's easy to fall into the mob mentality. The ball was around his hips, he was in line and ready to tuck it round the corner. The ball came a touch slower as McLaren rolled his fingers leading to an inside edge. Suresh Raina DOES have problem with the short ball. This wasn't one of those exhibitions. If you're looking for those dismissals - look at IPL final, Australia warm up game etc. Call a spade, a spade.
Raghav_12 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 he was expecting a short delivery :giggle: That is the problem. He knows that bowler know that he can't play short ball. So he tends to stay back in crease expecting a short ball which induces wrong shots from him.

Haven't seen dismissal but in general this fear of short ball messes up his shot-selection many times.

zep1706 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 His balance is terrible when he plays anything short of length. Hasn't been able to solve that problem.
G_B_ Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 forget about the dismissal. His innings in general was soo jittery. Bowlers me thinks have decided to simply bowl an odd short ball to mess with him and then bowl normally. he is always on the back foot as his mind is messed up

And there was nothing wrong with the shot; it was ON. The kind of dismissal you are looking for s in the Australia warm up game. He should have been on the front foot tucking that' date=' his weight was on the back foot[/quote'] Common MTC! It was round his hips.

DomainK Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Raina would have been an ATG batsman if under-arm bowing was the norm.

Crookbond Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 yeh saala India se bahr kuchh nhi kar paega. 2nd highest run scorer after MS Dhoni in England 2011. :winky:
Old guy Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 2nd highest run scorer after MS Dhoni in England 2011. :winky: its all about confidence back then in odis he backed himslef now a days he has too much doubt. u urself posed about it so i dont need to explain further :)
G_B_ Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 That's right and spot on. why thankyou. I was actually watching England v India in 2011 in September. England kept bowling short and Raina kept picking it up as it was predictable. If i was a coach i would tell my pacer to bowl it normally and throw in an odd short ball first/second up. In this champions trophy the pitches maybe flat but there is bounce in them. Now i would rather have Raina than Vijay in the side and he is a handy bowler to have considering our pacers are expensive. So cant see him being dropped for the champions trophy.
