Good Batting much more Important than Good Bowling

I will choose good bowling over good batting every single time. Reason ? Its bowling that wins matches, not batting. Whatever the format. In tests, the objective is to take 20 wickets for less runs conceded than the opposition. Not score more runs than the opposition. THerefore, in tests, good bowling is what wins you matches, not good batting. In ODIs/Twenty20s, the scenario is a bit more even: the objective can be interpreted as either: a) score more runs than the opposition in the allocated overs or b) concede less runs than the opposition in the allocated overs. It goes without saying that if your batsmen cannot regularly cross 150 in ODIs, a hall of fame bowling attack wont win you matches. But in games where the bowlers are not absolutely murdered, a clear superiority in bowling will win matches more often than a clear superiority in batting, especially when defending a score. A great bowling unit bowling first up also causes doubt for the batsmen- they are less certain as to what is a good score to set for their bowlers to defend and as such, timing the assault becomes tricky. Pulling off an assult is always hard ( Dhoni wouldnt get 60 in 40 balls regularly against Wasim-Waqar) and batsmen always have to worry about not starting a slide.

Lets look it this from another angle.. . if we look at the statistics of all matches won in LOI.... which unit has won more matches for the respective teams? batting or bowling? I have a feeling it's gonna be the batting unit. sure bowling unit must have contributed.. but I think the batting unit is the one that clinched the win.

Obviously in ODIs. In T20 any hack can quickly score 20-25 runs which is good. So doesn't matter much.

Agree with ODI's and Tests but T20's is a bowlers game despite what it looks like....Prime eg;Look at SRH and RCB

I'd look at CSK rather.great batting depth.bowling hasnt always been good but still they have been very successful
