saket123 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Even with an absolutely horrible Bowling attack (Indians don't fall into this category).. I believe, a good batting unit (like India's) will offset the poor to mediocre bowling attack much more than a good bowling unit would with a mediocre to poor batting unit. My theory is.. A good batting unit is worth much more to a team than a good Bowling Unit (if the other units are respectively mediocre or poor). (Maybe thats why Indian society as a whole is batting centric?) Even when you have a horrible bowling attack.. you can get wickets.. but we've seen how a good batting unit can even chase down 400+ runs (SL vs India)... What do you think? Which is worth more? The obvious answer is that we need a balance and or we need the best of both.. But given a choice between ONLY a good bowling unit or ONLY a good batting unit.. which one will you choose?
the don Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 lol, great teams are built around quality bowlers , more importantly fast bowlers , more so in test cricket , check the win loss of bowling centric teams versus batting teams .
deathmonger Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 lol' date=' great teams are built around quality bowlers , more importantly fast bowlers , more so in test cricket , check the win loss of bowling centric teams versus batting teams .[/quote'] Earlier maybe. Not now, since the 2000s. You can check W/L ratios.
G_B_ Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Depends on the pitch to be honest. Our batting for eg failed on pitches with bite in them for the pacers v Pakistan in the recently conducted series.
saket123 Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 lol' date=' great teams are built around quality bowlers , more importantly fast bowlers , more so in test cricket , check the win loss of bowling centric teams versus batting teams .[/quote'] it has been close.. but if you take india vs Pak in the last decade.. Indians have won more than Paks.. given we are batting centric (we only became batting heavy post 2002).. and paks are bowling centric.
Crookbond Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Sample bias - Pitches in ODIs over the last decade have favored the batsmen. Personal bias - The OP jus got banned in the Padosi forum and is removing his bhadaas here. :hahaha:

Indians have won more than Paks.. given we are batting centric (we only became batting heavy post 2002).. and paks are bowling centric. why is pak the benchmark of good bowling ? cos clearly in last decade they have been awful even in bowling department .. i dont buy hype same bowling line up was toothless in south africa where steyn was swinging bowl for miles.

I agree. Pakis overhype their bowling too much. They got thrashed in South Africa. They still have a long way to go to prove they are world class. After Wasim and Waqar, Shoaib was the only real good fast bowler to have come from Pakistan and yet they act as if they produced truckloads of them. :cantstop:

Post that he spent the next decade getting banned/getting tonked by Dhoni/Sehwag.

Indians have won more than Paks.. given we are batting centric (we only became batting heavy post 2002).. and paks are bowling centric. Pakis have had **** bowling since 2003. All of Paki wins have come on basis of their batting (Inzy,Younis,Youhana,Malik,Butt etc). All their bowlers kept getting tonked by Sehwag/Yuvi/Dhoni etc

maniac Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 ODIs n T20s : batting Tests : bowling Agree with ODI's and Tests but T20's is a bowlers game despite what it looks like....Prime eg;Look at SRH and RCB
the don Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Earlier maybe. Not now' date=' since the 2000s. You can check W/L ratios.[/quote'] im talking test cricket , cue southafrican attack .

vvvslaxman Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 You gotta have both man....Also it depends on the types of surfaces you play.
hassan_113 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 As we've seen today it's good to have both. But u need runs to play with.
