Gary Kirsten as limited overs coach

Been extremely poor IMO for South Africa in the ODIs and T20s. Especially in the big tournaments. Dont think he had a great T20 record with India either. Was ok in the ODIs for India. The real question remains, just how good a coach was Gary for India in the limited overs? Or was it just a very good team performing in conditions they excelled in? I mean before Gary took over Sa made it to the semis and choked. Now they dont even do that.

SA will choke wherever it goes and whoever it plays under. They are destined and cursed to do this.

Agree with the OP as I have said Kirsten's contribution is overrated....He wasn't our coach during CB series and 2007 WT20 wins....neither was he part of decent overseas successes in Eng and SA 2006-2007. His resume highlight is WC Win which India would have won with or without a coach and ,the team being No 1 in tests for which ground work was laid long before...similarly with South Africa,they would have been Test No 1 regardless thanks to their bowling.

India would have to Thank Greg Chappell for the golden period that they enjoyed...bad man-manager but the guy has talent-scouting abilities......Kirsten dont think so

Well test matches to be fair he has been good. nobody can fault him for that. I will personally still take him over fatty fletcher. Cause india do need to most help with the tests

Kirsten's strength was always his man management skills......barring Sreesanth-Bhajji which was in the IPL......how many rifts did we have in the Indian team under his reign?? None I can think of......he made sure there was harmony in the team with his hands on approach......good team harmony should never be underestimated.....an area, the likes of Chappal and Fatty Fletcher, failed miserably in......
