Srinivasan elected TNCA president

N Srinivasan has been elected the president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for the 12th time in a row. During the 83rd annual general meeting and elections of the state association, Srinivasan was elected unopposed, while Kasi Viswanathan was elected the secretary for seventh year on the trot. All the office bearers and members of the executive committee were unanimously elected for the year 2013-14. Srinivasan, the BCCI president, has temporarily stepped aside from his position and Jagmohan Dalmiya is seeing the board's day-to-day functioning. Srinivasan took the decision after his son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings official Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested for allegedly betting in IPL.

A conflict of interest notice has been issued against former BCCI president N Srinivasan's daughter Rupa Gurunath, who is the president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). BCCI ethics officer Justice DK Jain, who has issued the notice based on a complaint, has asked Gurunath to file her response by December 24, incidentally the same day on which the BCCI has scheduled its annual general meeting (AGM).

 

The development has put a question mark over Gurunath's participation in the AGM, where significant matters - including the addition of two new IPL franchises - are expected to come up for discussion.

 

In the notice issued on December 8, Justice Jain said he was responding to a complaint filed by Sanjeev Gupta, a former life member of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. In the complaint, filed on November 23, Gupta alleged that Gurunath was guilty of conflict under the BCCI constitution, considering she was occupying twin positions simultaneously: that of TNCA president and as a whole-time director of India Cements Limited, the company which owns Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd, which in turn is the owner of the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the IPL.

This Justice DK Jain and Sanjeev Gupta duo has to be a money making scam. Gupta keeps filing conflict of interest petitions to keep DK Jain and his office busy.

 

The earlier we shut down this freeloader office of BCCI ethics officer, better it is for our cricket. Retired judges and people appointed by SC should not be allowed to milch BCCI (like the other assorted scamster justices appointed as in charge of state cricket associations and CoA jokers)
