Men do get murdered, mugged and really it is dangerous for everybody. Those are also a crimes and let's not get into which is a "greater" crimes as crimes are crimes. And India certainly doesn't deserve such a bad rep particular from nations (eg. UK) who have a greater problem of those crimes mentioned in OP.

Men do get abused in different forms, but that doesn't count for you? Those are not crimes? Developed or developing countries barring a few cities, it is not a safe place for anyone. Why all this exclusivity for India and women?

Why all this exclusivity for India and women? india's law and order (nyaya vevastha) is abysmal in response to rape cases though.

Please start a new topic to discuss crime against men... The kind of society we have men can survive lots of crimes against them with zero social stigma attached... This topic is specific about atrocities against women. You are trying to measure crime. While the OP and many of us are trying to understand the the difficult life of being a women in India, crime or no crime... If you are adamant on comparing and trying to belittle the atrocities against female in India, so I'm ready to stick my head out and say yes, women face more atrocities, crimes and unique crimes as compared to men in India. You can start comparing with foeticide/infanticide, child marriages, bans/fatwas, sexual atrocities right from young age including molestations throughout the growing life, acid attacks, social backlash etc. Heck even if you compare using foreign visitors, let me know who are more safer, foreign travelling men or women and why?

These posters will take it as a sign that men are somehow being sidelined instead of focusing on women. They make it about themselves. Their line of reasoning which responds to facts about crimes against women with men being more in danger is beyond my understanding. Why does talking about crimes against women lead to talking about men??? It's unfeckingbelievable. Pretty sure there is a perverted psychological reason behind this particular stimulus-response. What is it? Controlling, over-bearing mother who has left you with an irrational fear of women, sexual deviancy and castration-complex and all leading to unhealthy and underdeveloped notions about sexual politics and gender relations.

Have you checked the OP and the report mentioned in it? Are you sure it's not specific about women or atrocities against them? What crime numbers you are talking about? What data you have about acid attacks or female foeticide/infanticide? Do you protect yourself from getting molested while in public or you allow yourself to get molested in whichever way possible?

(let me know if you doubt these numbers) I am not saying that any particular section should be ignored be male or female. All victims of crimes are victim of crimes. There is no gender, race, religion. Period. Don't try to create or help to create hysteria about one specific kind of crime when other kind of crimes are as prevalent. Don't take things on face value. I know acid attacks are heinous crime and should be dealt with severely. But do you know how many acid attacks take place in an year? Just because it feels more shocking such attacks grab headlines in newspapers and doesn't mean it is as regular as other kind of assaults. When tackling a problem you have to go by numbers and resources should be channelized accordingly unlike ICF where almost every day 2-3 threads are on specific kind of crimes.
