G_B_ Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Also it says we are hosting the 2023 world cup. will it be with slc and bcb or on our own? Might as well give the SL matches to SL and the BD matches to BD. Cant see anybody in india turning up for them
saneindian Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 IMO the world cup in tests should be qf semis and final in about 5 weeks. Thats it. top 8 teams. Too much of a lottery. IMO test championship should be the old fashioned round robin league type- 4 yr cycle, teams play each other, team with most points wins the Test Championship. Or decide the top 4 at a cut off date. Top 4 play each other, team with most points after adding the carried over ranking points wins the trophy.

I think the ICC and anglo boards in particular want to use this event to revive the format

StriKe Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Why ICC U19 Cricket World Cup not in India :hitler:
StriKe Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 ICC World Test Championship 2017 - England 2021 - India ICC Cricket World Cup 1975 - England 1979 - England 1983 - England 1987 - India/Pakistan 1992 - Australia/New Zealand 1996 - India/Sri Lanka/Pakistan 1999 - England 2003 - South Africa 2007 - West Indies 2011 - India/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh 2015 - Australia/New Zealand 2019 - England & Wales 2023 - India (Sri Lanka/Bangladesh) ? ICC World Twenty20 2007 - South Africa 2009 - England 2010 - West Indies 2011 - Sri Lanka 2014 - Bangladesh or South Africa 2016 - India 2020 - Australia ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 1988 - Australia 1998 - South Africa 2000 - Sri Lanka 2002 - New Zealand 2004 - Bangladesh 2006 - Sri Lanka 2008 - Malaysia 2010 - New Zealand 2012 - Australia 2014 - United Arab Emirates 2016 - Bangladesh 2018 – New Zealand 2020 – South Africa 2022 – West Indies
Prakat Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 All these events are not allocated or shared but are bid for by the boards who get the biggest broadcast deals. When espnstar bids for BCCI exclusive broadcast for 10 years, BCCI uses part of that money to plan for future bids. SA TV channels don't see a large market for cricket and don't get into multi-billion dollar broadcast deals with the board.
Crookbond Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 How could that be championship if played between two teams :hmmmm2: Test Championship is a 4-year long event which ends with the winning series.
Number Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Hopefully 2013 WC Happen,s in India bcz Pakistan team has Wounder ful record in India Which Fast Bowler,s will be playing in 2017 Championship ? Amir Aftab and Irfanullah Shah from Bannu. Height 6 feet 2, Speed 145 kmph.
BeautifulGame Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Why ICC U19 Cricket World Cup not in India :hitler: Thats a good think. The more tournaments our youngsters play outside India the better for their growth. We dont gain much by hosting U-19 in India imo
StriKe Posted June 29, 2013 Author Posted June 29, 2013 Test Championship is a 4-year long event which ends with the winning series. Never mind. I didn't see that you mentioned "series". I would go for Top 4 team than Top 2. Thats a good think. The more tournaments our youngsters play outside India the better for their growth. We dont gain much by hosting U-19 in India imo Yeah, It's better for our young players to get to know about conditions outside asia. BCCI wouldn't have bid for U19

BCCI has rights to sell only the games it hosts under its banner i.e. ICC events are not included. ICC event rights are sold by ICC(Star happens to hold the ICC rights currently). In return, ICC pays the hosts money to host in their grounds. Part of the TV rights money are also distributed among the full ICC members. BCCI, ECB and CA earns much less with ICC events compared to bilateral series.
namasteji1 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 No ICC u-19 wc in India? What is this? BCCI should oppose this. :P
Crookbond Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Never mind. I didn't see that you mentioned "series". I would go for Top 4 team than Top 2. That is at least 3 matches and 25 days for a tournament with draws.
special K Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 So India and BCCI have fixed another world cup for 2023. England will be looking to win the trophy for a 3rd time when that tournament gets underway.
FischerTal Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 So India and BCCI have fixed another world cup for 2023.
