If I understand Dhoni didn't take the field, so who took over his role? And how was that player performance as captain? Didn't watch the match.

Kohli captained a lot through consultation Him, Raina and Karthick were constantly huddling and discussing. Kohli seemd very agreeble to people giving him opionions Very different to dhoni who seems not to listen to anyone and his his own vision/thoughts and sticks to it

I was not actually saying which one was better. Just noting different methods. Dhoni seems to have quiet words with ashwin, no players goes up to him to give advice, they dont seem to have courage to.

Dhoni used to take advice from Sachin,Yuvraj in WC IIRC.These players maybe fazed by him

You are in no position to say that.

Early on his career when the likes of Dravid/SRT were around he used to communicate with them, now he is probably the most experienced player and you need to be decisive, too many cooks spoil the broth as they say! But I am surprised by Kohli i would have also thought his style would be his way or the highway

Yesterday it was like the handcuffs were off. They were all willing to give advice. Rohit, Raina, Karthick etc I thought Kohli handled it well. No probs taking people opions but was always doing in the end after inputting advice what he though best

Dhoni did all that early in his captaincy career. TBH too many consultations do not reflect well on a captain either. Kohli too will learn it soon

Nasser Hussain once said that one of the reasons he moved from the slip cordon to mid-on closer to the bowler was because he was sandwiched between two ex-captains Atherton and Stewart and he didn't want to listen to them much.

did not watch the second innings so cant say but obviously a young captain will listen to people than say a established mature one. Kohli is 24 years old. Most of the playing 11 are older than him. Though professionally in terms of ODIs T20s and tests played he has more experience than anybody else barring maybe Raina. Age wise me thinks he is still very much a greenhorn. If Virat is to captain i would keep Yuvi and Gambhir out of the team. Cant see them taking his orders. Better to have youngish non established players like Rahane, Pujara Tiwary who can take orders
