Hanumangarh boy Abhimanyu Lamba selected in Indian Under-19 team

Abhimanyu Lamba, 18, resident of Hanumangarh, said he became very happy when he learnt about his selection in the Indian Under-19 team. This team will play a Tri series in Australia in June and July. He is the only Rajasthani cricketer to get a place in the Indian junior cricket team this time. Vijay Zol of Maharashtra and Rajasthan Royals Sanju (Samson) Vishwandh will be the captain and vice captain of the team respectively. Lamba told Hindustan Times from Hanumangarh, “I will try my best to prove my abilities.” He is a right arm fast medium pacer and a disciple of Hanumangarh District Cricket Association secretary and joint secretary of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) Navendu Tyagi. He said he was informed about his selection by RCA’s Jyoti Dave. “I have learnt a lot from my coach and motivator Tyagi,” he said. “Whenever I get nervous, he boosts my self-confidence,” he added. Replying to a question, he said, “I have been playing cricket under Tyagi for the last three years. I got an opportunity to prove myself in the Tri series,” he said. He said he was taking it as a challenge. A class 12 student, Lamba said, “I would like to be part of the Asia cup under-19 team. Under-19 World Cup is also on my mind. World Cup will be played next year. Lamba had taken 19 wickets in 4 Cooch Bihar trophy matches and 10 wickets in Veenu Mankad Trophy. He took five wickets haul twice against Karnataka and Hyderabad. He also took four wickets against Railways in Veenu Mankad trophy. He also made 45 runs against Vidarbha in Mankad trophy. His ideal is English bowler Andrew Anderson. The junior team will leave for Australia on June 26.

I think he is picked far to early. He is just 15. He did not have a great Cooch Behar trophy too. So many batsmen with better records in tournament.

yes, looks like somebody with potential, but as always coaches will always write good things about their wards, isnt!!!! Hopefully he is really somebody special to be in the U19 team at 15 yrs of age, surprising aspect is i've read various comments here and there is different forums, some people are in awe for this Kid, they say he is somebody will great potential. Anyways India bullied New Zealand U19 by 100+ runs, Vijay Zol playing a captains innings of 126*, and indians bowled out New Zelanders for 111.
