Crookbond Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 People need to understand the difference in digital versus other media. Books are different than discreet mp4 files which are hidden on your phone. It does not account to public indecency. The possession of porn on mobile is just possession - it doesn't imply watching. Watching of porn in public places is not allowed and that's that. It does not matter if it is tablet, mobile phone etc. but possession itself doesn't amount to watching. It would be insane even to charge someone of possession of legally acquired porn. It wouldn't hold water in court even for a single day. In order to check your house etc., there needs to be a search warrant - same applies to your mobile too. Let us not lose our heads just because it is one of things we care about. The main aim is to solve the problem; not create new ones.

I have my school friends who are married on watsapp, and it is unbelievable the amount of porn they pass around... either in video clips or pics etc all.. and then they have these crude MC, BC what not jokes.. It is going out of control... and then if no one passes around anything for 2-3 days, they crave for it.. and these are married folks.. I dont know where this is going to end up.. but, on the second thought, banning won't help either.. This is one of those addictions which wont be cured regardless of ban or not banned.

You are advocating a sheer police state where the law enforcement is held accountable for individuals’ moral/ethical behavior. Are we not implying then that a grown-up individual is simply incapable of policing their own actions? Obviously, the possessing and distribution of banned forms of pornography is terrible, but the solution is not to blanket such 100s and 100s of civilians who may have nothing to do with pornography. Unbridled power (either for the good guys or the bad guys) creates more problems than it solves. For the record, India is already beyond redemption when it comes being a police state. The utter brutality and contempt with which law enforcement treats ordinary civilians is already beyond limits. The last thing we need to do is to give them more powers to be more intrusive and unreasonable.

If you ask me we should arrest everybody who has bollywood movies on their tablet as i am deeply offended by most of them. I hope manipuri women don't support such moves. These are the same people who are offended by the dresses women wear and the places they visit and people they hang out with. Women's safety is just an excuse. They will use it to crack down on everybody who they feel is stepping out of line.

How many of the lower income people in India have "private space"? In India, wayyy more people have access to a phone than to a toilet, forget bedrooms.

Ab yeh to Varun/Ravi ko complain karo ki yeh kyun default se nai ho raha.. And yes I have to change it everytime also .. .But I use this font only when I am writing more than two lines for better reading pleasure. Btw... Beetle, how are you?? Recently, I came accross one of our email exchanges that we had some 8 years back during our old ICF stay.. hahah
