DomainK Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Manipur Police Launches Check Cell Phone For Porn IMPHAL, July 10 2013: In an effort to reduce crime against women, which have shown a rising trend in the recent past, Manipur police have launched the cell phones checking drive for obscene content. The police teams conducted their surprise check on cell phones used by teenage boys in their early twenties in Imphal West and Imphal East districts since the last five days. This was confirmed a top ranking police officer of the state when contacted. Manipur has been witnessing spiralling crime against women in the last few years, prompting hordes of women's bodies to intensify their campaign against the menace. According to Imphal-based Women Action for Development, more than 250 cases of violence against women - including rape, rape and murder, molestation, trafficking, brutal physical assault, abduction, intimidation, abandonment and immolation - took place in Manipur last year. This year till June, there were more than half a dozen rape cases including minor were reported. So far around 200 of youths have counselled and drive is still on, according to a senior police officer. beetle Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Last friday I was going to the bank when I saw a group of men who looked like house painters ,lying on the green patch next to the road looking at their mobiles and laughing lewdly pointing to a group of school girls passing by.... I am not surprised the police is taking such action. I completely agree. Porn is not something you need to carry around in your pocket to watch wherever you want. Get a bloody room !

Well, I understand what you are saying, but the fact is that the police can't do it. It's just simply illegal. They can't stop and search peoples mobile phones randomly.

I am not surprised the police is taking such action. I completely agree. Porn is not something you need to carry around in your pocket to watch wherever you want. Get a bloody room ! So if they did that on their laptop/tablet, you would ban that as well ? The issue you're suggesting (if there's one) is the behavior of painters, not the phone.

Child porn,rape porn,porn where the participants are not aware of being clicked should not be allowed anywhere.Owning ,viewing,selling or spreading such criminal stuff should be punishable .Right now all porn is clubbed together .

I know......how dare anyone infringe upon the right of most men to access porn anytime any place.....on every possible screen. Why just mobiles...why not allow people to carry pornographic books under their armpits all the time?...every where...schools ,hospitals,bus stops,offices,temples ...every damn place because it is so difficult to stay without porn in their hands all the times.

beetle Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Carrying porn around in the form of books is not allowed at all places...so how is carrying it in mobiles any different. Besides is the police allowed to check for child porn or rape porn?Or is that not allowed? Or people should have a right to free use of that too? Porn is something that should be enjoyed in private spaces ...not something in every pocket ,at all times ,at all places.Anyone who can't live without it at all times needs help in any case.
