carnish
BLOODY SELECTORS ... selected Binny for the wrong format ... He is more suited to LOIs ... Anyone here please tell me we are also playing LOIs in South Africa on our A Tour?? Binny should have been in the side for Zimbabwe instead of Rahane ... would have given more balance. MCcricket
Ishwar Pandey, Kaul excellent prospects and have very good domestic record also are skilled, I feel one more bowler with raw pace should have been included. Link to comment
saneindian
We are playing 4 List A matches in a tri series with SA A and Aus A (5 if we reach the finals) and 2 FC matches. The likes of Unadkat and Binny would probably the one dayers. Link to comment
ShebbySB
Vijay was superb in the last test series against Australia which we won 4-0.So he along with Dhawan are selected for the A tour so that they can get used to the pitches in SA before the SA tour as they'll be our test openers. Now many will say that he is a flat track bully & fail miserably on fast, bouncy SA pitches but u can't ignore him based on an assumption as his last series was excellent against a quality attack though on home ground. ShebbySB
Suyal for malnourished Unadkat,Rishi Dhawan for Stuart Binny & anyone who can bat a bit in place of Raina:hehe: shd've been better. Link to comment
express bowling
Even Philander is a trundler. There is no harm in having one trundler, maybe even 2 if they are really skilled. But the pace bowling group must have atleast one ,if not more, 140 k + pacers. If not available then a couple of bouncy fast medium bowlers. This team has 2 medium pacers and 2 short and skiddy fast medium pacers. This might make the attack too one dimensional and there will be no-one to add bite to the bowling if the ball is not moving. I would have preferred Suyal over Unadkat and Dhawal additionally as he is getting good bounce these days at lively pace and getting wickets too. Link to comment

Sooda
With Jagdale gone' date=' the tryst of Jalaj Saxena with A side has also ended. Did fairly well on the games he played on last 2 tours.[/quote'] Had a good FC season too even opening the batting. If anything he had a stronger case now than ever before. Not that he actually ddeserved a spot I dont think Agree with what peoiple saying about Raina. I think Mukund should have been there as backup opener instead of Raina. He has been skipper of the last A team to tour so would have been consistent. Link to comment
Sooda
I posted this in the other thread but we needed a different set of players for the Ltd overs matches. Now we are left with India senior players like Rohit, Raina and Dhawan playing vs SA A and Aus A teams which is silly. May be good test for them but they shouldn’t have to play vs A teams, they are playing unnecessary cricket. For me Mohit, Wagh, Mandeep, Uthappa and maybe K Jadhav or Jaggi would have been in for I Pandey, Unadkat, Vijay, Rohit, Dhawan and Raina to play Ltd overs cricket only. Mukund, Pankaj and R Dhawan would have been in the 4 days team squad instead of Binny, Jaidev and Raina Link to comment
saneindian
Soods but for A tours teams do not pick different squads for List A and FC matches. I can't remember when we did it. Link to comment
Sooda
Soods but for A tours teams do not pick different squads for List A and FC matches. I can't remember when we did it. Yeah but we should! There haven’t been very many A team tours until recently As I said all the above guys are playing ODIs for India seniors- In Rohit and Rainas case they’ve played quite a lot of ODIs and Vijay is not suited to ltd overs game. None of those guys should play in the tri series against A teams. Will give us a chance to try out other players. I don’t think Dhawan too, give him some time off before the 4 days matches. I guess it will just take sending out a big squad and calling back the ltd overs specialists after the tri series, bulk of the squad remains the same. Reward guys who have performed well in List A and IPL like Wagh and Mohit who will gain so much more from playing Aus and SA A rather than Zim. Pandey should be in the FC playing XI but do not know how good a Ltd overs bowler has he been. Link to comment
cricketman
Bowling looks weak as heck. Scary to think that this is our next crop of bowling talent... I would have put Umesh in there. Batting is strong. Vijay and Rahane should be fighting for a spot. Though Vijay is in poor form now, lets not forget that his last test series he was an absolute beast. Glad that they sent Shikhar. Though he has been playing non stop it is absolutely vital that he gets some exposure in SA. If we want any chance of success then it is essential that Shikhar clicks and can see off Steyn and co with the new ball. Vijay Shikhar Pujara KD Rahane Rayudu Looks strong! Link to comment
Cricketics
Sooda, you need to keep in mind that Dhawan and co. haven't been tested much overseas in first class matchess. Dhawan showed great form against Australia in India, and it will be great for his batting that he plays for India in South Africa. Even for Vijay and Rohit Sharma. We keep request for our players to get County stint where they are playing with totally unknown britis and kolpak players. This is beter than county stint. Tough conditions and players like Shikhar will be playing with fellow Indians where they can bat at the right spot where they deserve. People forget that they won't have their own choice when they go to county teams. They keep switching the batting order there. Link to comment
Chandan
This will be a very important series for us as most of our players will be new to SA later this year. Link to comment
Cricketics
Looking forward to this one. I hope they stream atleast few matches somehow. Link to comment

G_B_
No place for Mukund who was the captain on last A tour to England? Or for Mandeep? Poor domestic season has done them in. But on what basis has Raina been picked? Why was Dhawal Kulkarni ignored depite being the standout bowler in Ranji knockouts? And Binny continues the tradition of papa-beta syndrome of India A squads. :faceplam: you really do have to feel sorry for Dhaval Kulkanri. Lead the Mumbai bowling to a ranji win and destroyed Saurashtra in the finals. To average about 25 for the season on a road of a Mumbai pitch is a very good effort. Had a good solid IPL as well picking up many wickets. I was very impressed with the fact this season he took on the role of spearhead for Mumbai when Zaheer basically proved to be a dud. Has increased his pace this season to bowl in the 135+ bracket. Can bowl long spells of 7-8 overs on the trot. Has played 53 ranji games and averages 27 with the ball. Can bat as well. Those are some solid numbers whichever way you look at it. Link to comment
MCcricket
Pankaj Singh, Suyal, Kulkarni have mid 25 ave and Unadkat who averages 33 plus is in the team also has no promise, he trundles at 125 and has a bad action and needs a lot of work. Link to comment
