adi B Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 New Delhi: A 23-year-old student of New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) killed himself after allegedly attacking his female friend with a cleaver this morning. Akash and Roshni, 22, reportedly had an altercation at around 11 am in one of the classrooms in the campus. Both studied Korean in the school of languages in JNU. According to the police, Akash slit his throat and consumed rat poison after attacking Roshni. He died of poisoning at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) around two hours after the incident. True but I am still trying to find a reason behind why they dont take it well. Indian system is such that failure/rejection is part of the life.. unless you are in elites group. Could be bollywood affect... where actors get the girl eventually.

Could be bollywood affect... where actors get the girl eventually. movies like raanjhana dont help either... although i liked the movie for dhanush's performance, stalking is portrayed in a lovey-dovey sort of way, when in reality it amounts to sexual harassment...
beetle Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Attacked JNU girl amnesic, doesn’t recall attack NEW DELHI: Roshni, the Jawaharlal Nehru University student who was hit on the head with an axe by a classmate last week, has no memory of what happened on the fateful day and is not able to recognize her friends from JNU. Doctors at Safdarjung hospital said the 22-year-old has slipped into post-traumatic amnesia, a state of memory loss, and is having problems registering day-to-day activities. "She is disoriented. Her mind is not registering time, place or a person. For example, she doesn't know if it is day or night or where she is," said Dr Karam Chand, the head of Safdarjung's neurosurgery department. He said post-traumatic amnesia is a common condition in head injury patients but the longer it persists, the lesser are the chances of recovery of brain functions. Chand, however, added that a patient may recover from post-traumatic amnesia suddenly. Its long-term effects include learning disability and memory-related issues. Roshni was brought to Safdarjung hospital on July 31 with severe head injuries. She underwent two consecutive surgeries within 12 hours to repair the skull membrane and remove a clot. Though she gained consciousness the following day, doctors say her recovery has been slow. "She barely speaks. Tests conducted to check her orientation show she is not able to recollect day-to-day events. She looks distressed and anxious," said another senior doctor. Doctors said she does not require any more surgeries and may soon be shifted to a general ward. The 22-year-old will require intensive speech therapy, physiotherapy and psychological counselling over the next few months, they added. Sudhir Gupta, Roshni's eldest brother, said family members were allowed to meet her in the ICU in the evenings. "She recognizes us but doesn't speak much. We are hoping she recovers fast," he said. Dr Deepak Aggarwal, senior neurosurgeon at the AIIMS trauma centre said post-traumatic amnesia was of two types - retrograde (loss of memories formed shortly before the injury) and anterograde (wherein patient has problems creating new memories after the injury). "Anterograde amnesia is a serious condition. It is reflective of the severity of a brain injury," said Aggarwal. Doctors said Roshni was showing symptoms of both kinds of amnesia at the moment. The seriousness of her condition would only be known after a few days. A resident of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, Roshni was studying Korean at JNU's School of Languages. The attacker, Aakash, studied in the same class.
