By the time Kohli got out, lot of work still remained but India had come out of the pressure and Dhoni built on from their and helped India win the world cup. When Gambhir left the scene, India were 223-4. Vande Matram, Chak De India, Jai ho songs had started playing agian which went missing when we were two down early. Gambhir had departed but the feeling was their that world cup is coming home. Gambhir had played one of the best ever knocks under pressure.

What do you mean by that? 2 different scenarios,when Dhoni came in he had a relatively well-settled partner at the other end. When Gambhir was playing he lost 2 senior partners for next to nothing and he tried to steady ship with a relative rookie. Where did I say Dhoni's innings was poor in the context Gambhir's innings was superior. Don't look at S/R and R/R.20 overs taking it close enough was more important as we had enough power-hitters to follow.

Check the way he got out against Aus in QF and then his brainfart in final.He played excellent knocks in both QF and Final but truth is he choked in both of them. Gambhir played an excellent knock not disagreeing but he threw his wkt away with a brainfart at an most important juncture. Even from strong positions teams collapse in finals because of pressure and that was world cup final.Just remember what happened to Eng against us in the CT final.Thats why its essential when u are set u see through.And we needed more that 6 RR for the last 20 overs.

Gambhir hasn't fallen. Don't confuse yourself. We have just seen some of the most inconsitent players India have produced in last 10 years in the best form of their life who are keeping Sehwag, gambhir, Yuvraj out of the team. Let's see how long the form last of those players. As all know, we are touring overseas and anyone who doesn't perform on any overseas tour gets dropped big time. I can see Sehwag and Gambhir both back in the line up soon.

What's not true? When did Dhoni show up? After India was 30-2 down in a WC final with 2 massive players out and the crowd stunt or after they were 100 for 3 with a set player (Gambhir) along with Dhoni? Where was Dhoni during the 15-20th overs when the RR was above 6 twice he took some serious risks and was almost caught in the cover when trying to slog over it. How on earth did he choke when he got the team in a very good stage before leaving?

Won't disagree on that. I am not one of those fans who forgets the failures and just remember the good days of players. Yes, Gambhir and Sehwag did suck. I think Sehwag kind of sucked more than Gambhir off late, but I still though Gambhir was fine for our test side. I mean he had a slump in ODI's but I still thought he could have been persisted with in tests. Anways, this is my belief that they will come back to test side soon or I should rather say I want them to comeback since they will be better options for us in test. It's not easy to dominate as an opener in test cricket. Hence I am saying, we might see some of these new comers perform in a series, but only time will decide how consistent they are over a period. As I said earlier, one bad overseas tour, and every player has to see the wrath of getting dropped. Same shall happen if they put themselves in a situation like that.

How exactly putting honest opinions putting one down? Gambhir as a bat was definitely our best batsman in the world cup.2 important knocks (QF & Final) ahead of Sachin Dhoni and Yuvi in that order (i dont give much imp to Group stages) . i say gambhir went for a boundary shot selflessly in the 90`s knowing that india was in a great position with yuvi,raina,dhoni still there..noway it qualifies as choking.. gambo`s knock was slightly better than dhoni

Also our country is obsessed of centuries. Infact most of the fans from other countries are too. Had he scored 3 more runs, he would have been in the headline a little more or might have taken the man of the match. But because of those 3 runs, he missed out on all those. It sad, but it's true. 3 runs cost Gambhir lot of glory. World could have been a lot different for him had he scored 3 extra runs.

I would reserve my thoughts on that. It wasn't a chappell gate where clearly things could be visible. Media had a lot to play there. You, me we don't really know what was happening. Media was enjoying the field vacation when India weren't doing too well at the same time sehwag got dropped from the line up or had to sit out. Media even went on to talk crap about Dhoni that Dhoni is ridiculing about Senior players like Ganguly and Tendulkar.
