Selfish Vs Selfless batsmen in Indian team

Selfish players

• Likes to play in the position they are used to playing
• Insists on opening the innings if they have scored heavily as an opener and have failed numerous times under pressure
• Takes their time to settle down and drags the game letting the run rate go all the way down. This puts batsmen who follow to play at a higher scoring rate and lose wickets taking risk.
• Plays a boring innings and scores above 50 to keep their position in the playing eleven.

Selfless players

• Plays at any position offered to them and plays accoding to the team needs
• Grabs the opportunity with both hands when offered and doesnt wine if they fail
• Ready to play second fiddle to superstars
• If the team needs a wicket keeper, ready to offer his service
• Contributes to teams success not looking at Individual glory and records.
• Changes the style according to the need

I think in essence most players are selfish. The greatest players have all been selfish. Bradman was widely considered selfish. So was Sunil Gavaskar. Brian Lara, Richards, Imran you name it they have all been tagged selfish. Whether thats good for the team or bad is a highly debatable topic but if you ever made all-time Greatest XI there is a good chance there would be more selfish players in there than selfless. Sad but true Head coach. xx
