alexander Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I thought it was because India played better. There is actually no evidence for these accusations at all. He admitted in his own words 1 experimental game in CC. Nothing has been proven in international cricket, and the man played here for decades.
Muloghonto Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Our media used to make hay with this. Even then the educated set understood and backed Imran Khan's position - and sans proof the courts threw any case out. The world has watched them play - Australia' date=' WI, Lanka, England, NZL - why then do only you have issue with it? [/quote'] Because the world didnt watch as closely as they did after 1987. Wasim is an ATG, Waqar was an ATG when he had serious pace, Imran was a very good bowler who cheated and protected his way to the top. Trust me, if we played Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and all he did was bowl 7-8 overs with the new ball and wait for the next new ball, he too would've had the type of stats Imran had in his later career: stuff like 20 wickets from 8 matches @ 25 average. Imran could get away with it because he was the captain. Incompetence from the umpires does not equate to no cheating from self-confessed cheats. A 'great' fast bowler who averages 14-15 for 5 years of 20 year career, either side of which he ends up averaging 30. And its 'mere coincidence' that his peak is the same period where he admits to ball tampering in 'county cricket'. he was a very good fast bowler no doubt, but the way he cheated at his peak and then protected his stats in the late career makes his stats inflated.
vvvslaxman Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 There is no struggling' date=' Bcci pays handsome money for those wins against pak in multinational tournaments how do you think the pcb is still financially alive?[/quote'] Ya from 1985/86 we are paying money :haha: Two thumping wins in Benson and hedges word cups 1992 1996 1999 2003 2007 2007 world T20 (twice) we have been paying for years :giggle:
alexander Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 That is nothing more than speculation. Pakis have been banned more and found to've broken the rules in cricket more than any other side. Your BCCI allegations are just speculative nonsense without any evidence. This rule should be applied uniformly. :two_thumbs_up: Ah English justice - it really is the best in the world. :two_thumbs_up:
Muloghonto Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 There is no struggling' date=' Bcci pays handsome money for those wins against pak in multinational tournaments how do you think the pcb is still financially alive?[/quote'] Nothing more than speculations. What is facts, is that Pakis have been found to've cheated in cricket more often than any other side. The number of suspensions & citations for cheating is way higher for the Pakis than any other team.

Imran admitted to cheating himself, i am simply not prepared to take a cheat on his word on the extent of his cheating. That would be insanely dumb.

Facts remain that India is where all fixing originates from and the center of cricket gambling and match fixing, any media with balls would expose Bcci and Indian cricket within 5 minutes.
alexander Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Accusations outside of that CC game sans evidence is no case at all. You have to ask would it stand up in a court of law? No. Each accusation has to be proven. There is simply no evidence of it in test cricket.
Muloghonto Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Facts remain that India is where all fixing originates from and the center of cricket gambling and match fixing' date=' any media with balls would expose Bcci and Indian cricket within 5 minutes.[/quote'] Yep, fixing happens in India but its the Pakis that are the easiest to get to fix. Fact remains that pakis have been hauled for cheating more often than any other side!

No. Each accusation has to be proven. There is simply no evidence of it in test cricket. But for this guy admitting he would not be caught in England as well. Do you expect him to admit he did in Tests way before multiple cameras were introduced? No way.

No. Each accusation has to be proven. There is simply no evidence of it in test cricket. Irrelevant, it cannot be proven because the evidence has been long since destroyed. That is what Botham found out when he accused Imran of ball tampering. But fact remains Imran confessed and as i said, you can be naive enough to believe a crook on his word on how often he/she's been crooked, i am not.
alexander Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Umpires get the ball after each over. Such metal scuffing on the ball would be obvious. You simply have to ask 1 question. Is there clear evidence of this case? The answer is no. Thus, this 30 year old whisper must end.

I dont need clear evidence to conclude Imran was a cheat, because this is not a criminal case. If you were to apply the rules of a civic case, Imran is more than guilty, there has been enough doubt cast on his credibility- by his own admission, by Botham's allegations, by Haynes citing the ball to the umpire ( his precise words were 'it looks like a dog chewed on it') to get Imran guilty. Clear evidence is required only for criminal cases, not civil cases. Just like how OJ Simpson was found criminally not guilty but found guilty in a civil court, Imran too would've been if it was done sooner.
vvvslaxman Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Finally a Harsh Thakkor thread is having some life.. thanks to trolling :hysterical:
zep1706 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 And being Oxbridge' date=' he was sort of one of us. :D[/quote'] show off :giggle:
alexander Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I meant he is almost British. :D In essence, this debate is silly. On the one hand, you have the weight of cricketing opinion - expert, peer, layman alike in praise of the player. On the other - a few bitter Indian fans. Botham is my hero. I stated peak ITB is amazing. But overall, Imran Khan was a better player owing to longevity and his more incisive quick bowling.
alexander Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 ^ That is close to an honest answer. I'd say IK, ITB - then Hadlee and then Kapil Dev.
