King Tendulkar Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Sachin ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AFTER 200th Test Its Over The legend is calling it a day The greates ever player is calling it a day
Sidhoni Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Sachin Tendulkar will retire from Test cricket after playing his 200th Test, which he is scheduled to play during the home series against West Indies in November. In a BCCI release, Tendulkar said: "All my life, I have had a dream of playing cricket for India. I have been living this dream every day for the last 24 years. It's hard for me to imagine a life without playing cricket because it's all I have ever done since I was 11 years old. It's been a huge honour to have represented my country and played all over the world. I look forward to playing my 200th Test Match on home soil, as I call it a day. "I thank the BCCI for everything over the years and for permitting me to move on when my heart feels it's time. I thank my family for their patience and understanding. Most of all, I thank my fans and well-wishers who through their prayers and wishes have given me the strength to go out and perform at my best."
Unleashed Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 End of an Era. Can't imagine Cricket without him.
Scarves Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 Its an end of an era... Yeah for Indian cricket but internationally Kallis and Chanders are still here. Yeah I mean I'll give my input on Tendulkar after that much but it has been amazing seeing him play live several times. Really one of the best of all time. It had to happen eventually.
King Tendulkar Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The greatest ever. But correct decision. To me is more of a relief that he finally has made the right call
DomainK Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Sad, sad day for many of us fans. This is the end of an era, an age of awesome cricket.
G_B_ Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Yeah for Indian cricket but internationally Kallis and Chanders are still here. Yeah I mean I'll give my input on Tendulkar after that much but it has been amazing seeing him play live several times. Really one of the best of all time. It had to happen eventually. I guess i meant , end of an era in Indian cricket.
Sidhoni Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 BCCI President N. Srinivasan's statement: "I have been an ardent follower and admirer of Sachin Tendulkar from the days he came to play Buchi Babu in Chennai. He is without doubt the greatest cricketer India has produced. In fact one should really say he ranks among the top of all time great sports persons in the world. No one has served Indian cricket as Sachin has. He has truly been an Ambassador for India and Indian Cricket. He has been an inspiration for generations of sportsmen not just cricketers. We respect his decision to retire although many of us can't imagine an Indian team without Sachin."
Gambit Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Although his fan following and aura has diminished somewhat in what were two lackluster years, one cannot deny what he meant for fans who started watching cricket in the 90s and what his contribution to the Indian team has been over two decades. You can love him or hate him now but you cannot deny that at some point you adored him. Our final link to the fab four is gone. Farewell SRT.
King Tendulkar Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 What a player Time to remeber what he was in his pomp. An MCC coaching manual on steriods. Destructive, calculated and hungry. sachin in the 90s was a monster. The energy, the fearlessness. Love this man
Sidhoni Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 :hatsoff: Thanks for the memories. Though I have been waiting for this day for some time, the news is hardly believable. Tough to imagine the Indian team taking field without him.
mishra Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Just hearing it live on the news. Cricket will never be same for 100 of millions of his die hard Cricket fans. Thank you Paaji!!! Jiust top it all with one good knock at Edens
zaheer Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 i have almost stopped watching cricket, bar a match here and there. Now it would be even more difficult to get myself to watch cricket without him in the team. I still remember watching him on my black and white old tv smacking Abdul Qadir all over the ground. I was only 7-8 yr old then. Sad but it had to end. Love you Tendlya, will miss watching you grace the cricket field.
Cevno Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 :hatsoff: Legend. Wow. Cricket won't be the same for me.
