10 best test match innings of Sachin Tendulkar

These are my selection of Tendulkar's best innings in test cricket in order of merit. 1.155 n.o at Madras versus Australia in 1997-98 Pulverized Shane Warne with the ferocity of a tiger tearing meat.Warme looked like a club bowler.Can never forget Sachin's majestic execution of drives and pull shots .He was in command of the game like a chessplayer moving his pawns on a chessboard.Above all he won the game for India.I placed it at the top because it won the match for India which it one point looked in danger of losing. 2.114 at Perth in 1991-92 Arguably the closest display of batting to that of Don Bradman.Sachin's batting contained every element -technique,artistry,innovation and concentration.On the bounciest of tracks he exhibited the skill of a surgeon combined with the imagination of a poet. 3.136 n.o at Madras in 1998-99 Mastered the worst of batting surfaces with the skill of a an engineer repairing a machine considered irreparable.Came within the threshold of taking India to one of it's most sensational victories in a run -chase after being so hopelessly placed.Executed a series of drives ,cuts and pull shots with the aura of a superstar. 4.147 in the 3rd test in South Africa in 2011-2012 Revealed his true mastery of great pace brilliantly innovating strokes.Sachin superbly tackled the most treacherous of deliveries of Dale Steyn on a difficult surface.Few great batsmen could have played better in those conditions. 5..Century at Edgbaston in 1996 in the 3rd test Mastered the English seaming conditions with skill rarely seen.Sachin superbly combined technique with creativity playing some of the most majestic strokes against the moving ball. 6.169 at Johannesburg v South Africa in 1997-98 Sachin mastered great paceman with meticuluos skill like Alan Donald but sadly did not save the game for India.His drives were truly mastery and he superbly blended high technical skill with agression.In a great stand with Azharrudin he revealed his great temperament.One of the bets innings played in South Africa. 7.148 at Sydney in 1991-92 Almost as good as the innings at Perth in the same series with a masterly exhibition of driving and pulling. 8.158 v South Africa in 2001 Took the bowling attack of the Proteas showing no mercy.A great innings for the given conditions. 9.Century at Old Trafford in the 2nd test in 1990 Saved the day for India with the batting of a champion. 10.165 v England in 1993 in the 2nd test at home Tore the English attack apart with flair rarely seen. I have not added Sachin's 241 n.o in 2003-04 as I feel it did not contribute to the team's cause like knock sof Rahul Dravid and V.V.S.Laxman did in that very series.It also took a lot of time.

148 was in Sydney, not Perth. Never expected such mistakes from a BOT. My pick is his 146 in last SA tour. Competing with 169 in SA in 97. How was his century that he hit in Aus in 99-00 tour? I don't recall watching that and haven't read much about that. But considering the low scores of that series and supremacy that Australia used to wield around that year, it should be a great one.

Some of his best tons were when we lost but they get mentioned less as we lost(problem with being in aweak team which we were in 90s). eg that ton in 2001 was a master class againstmaybe best team ever.

Sachin was a different player in the 1st half of his carrer always blending defence with agression of the Viv Richards mould.The Madras 155 testified that .In his later carrer Sachin curbed his attacking instincts unlike Brian Lara.Strangely. Wisden has never included a Tendulkar innings in it's top 100 test innings list.Isn't it unfair?Gavaskar has 3 innings as well as Vishwanath in that list.
