gattaca Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 ofcourse these assessments are meant from a professional standpoint only. nothing personal. extended runs can be given to identified prospects who have something special about them.but the intial filter has to be done. This goes against the logic of a sound sporting system. talent identification has to be very good. you have to reject the mediocre just as you identify the best. the best players are often known from early teens.yes some may progress late depending on the sport. to say that it cannot be identified that likes of mongia were not going to make it is something I don't buy. Lets be clear here. We don't have any special ones in our bowling in domestic level. We have to work with existing ones. Dont know how much domestic cricket you watch. See below his List A record. Lets us know if you found someone who has better record at domestic level. Mat Balls Runs Wkts BBI BBM Ave Econ SR 4w 5w 10 List A 93 4607 3765 140 4/24 4/24 26.89 4.90 32.9 8 0 0
NareshK Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Parwinder Awana and Mohammad Shami should be selected for ODI side. Their List A stats are quite decent and these matches are played on flat pitches. Awana 34 games - Avg 25.50 Economy 5.00 52 Wickets Shami 35 games - Avg 26.66 Economy 4.92 53 Wickets Or even Mohit Sharma or Ishwar Pandey. These are the series where you try new bowlers and see if they have the goods, instead of giving chances to tried and tested failures like Vinay Kumar.

I have hard time recalling shami. Is this the same guy who bowled full tosses to thriumanne in last 10 overs in Caribbean. Yes that right.
GautiMaan Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Mohit Sharma should've atleast been in the squad

They are not machines. Any bowler can have an off day. Selectors need to be patient especially when a bowler is young and doesnt have experience. With more cricket, he will get better.

NareshK Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I think they have seen enough of him in Zimbabwe. 5 matches Economy 4.15 6 wickets Avg 30 That's quite decent.
FischerTal Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Mohit Sharma should've atleast been in the squad +1
singhprakash72 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 In the "Land of Trundlers" a 6' 4" hairy joker is a king.....as for Vinay Kumar he is a typical Indian bowler from bygone era, who would have been touted as Pace Sensation if it was 80s, but to consistently see him in Indian team now is absolutely ludicrous.
gattaca Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Mohit Sharma should've atleast been in the squad Agree with this.
youngindia Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 . See below his List A record. Lets us know if you found someone who has better record at domestic level. so what relevance does it have for international level success? does his record inject him with talent? this is the illogical tendency i am talking about. for a top notch international cricket team, you have to be brilliant and a matchwinner. its that simple.that's the requirement. non brilliant players are not going to be successful.no rocket science. there is no point whatsoever with working with vinay.there is only a point when there is potential to work with. there are many instances of domestic champs coming croppers or not being too great at international levels and their FC data is garbage data for internationals.. get over it. yes there are better younger prospects to work with.
PAA-G Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 What abt rahul shukla/sudeep tyagi/bhargav bhatt

All the current players in the team performed well at domestic level and are picked based on that. I dont know what criteria you would have pick player if you don't trust FC. How are you deciding if someone has potential or not or you a coach for an international team? Enlighten us FC data is garbage data for internationals Then no nation would trust their FC records but pick players based on what ? you have to be brilliant and a matchwinner Let us know which current FC bowlers are brilliant and match winners.

Where did that come from:cantstop: Mohit looked better than VK in the series against Zim,no reason for him to dropped from the squad,as he did really well in the few matches he played What abt rahul shukla/sudeep tyagi/bhargav bhatt Might want to edit that name,he was also part of csk:secret:
adi B Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Rather play unadkat, shami and mishra in place of ashwin, pishant and vinee. Tired and sick of watching these innocuous trundlers getting backed by dhobi and getting whacked in the match
youngindia Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 How are you deciding if someone has potential or not or you a coach for an international team? Enlighten us wrong and illinformed on all counts. there are people in this world with a gift for spotting talent. there are people who can spot 12 yr olds as potential superstars. talent scouts are valuable in the more successful sporting countries top superstars like venus/serena, Bryant, lebron james, Tendulkar were marked right from the time they they were kids.top Australians like ponting were also known from a young age.don't tell me they were playing first class at age 12 or 14 for example viv richards or warne didn't have the FC numbers when they made their international debut. often younger players are picked based on perceived high talent and potential across sports. FC has its uses. just not in the way you think as its data entry for internationals :) we can as well assign team selection to a bcci clerk. judging talent is extremely important to be top sporting nation. the no 1 quality, a sporting system should have Let us know which current FC bowlers are brilliant and match winners. ofcourse we don't have a cummins or pattinson but that does not mean we have to take a no hoper like vinay.the younger prospects are listed by rktindia and others.needs no mention by me.
