vijay50 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 This thread is an inspiration from youngindia's comment on Vinay kumar thread. There are some players (parasites) who are continuously picked inspite of their limitations in performance with absolutely no scope for further improvement, but always suck the wind out of team India and are hard to remove from team, no matter what. It feel very frustrating to watch these guys getting repeated chances for whatever reason.Feel free to list some of the guys who played greater than 25 matches in any format. This list will be updated frequently. 1.Dinesh Mongia-ODIs 2. Vinay Kumar-ODIs 3. Ishant Sharma-ODIs 4.Kaanfidence Piyush Chawla-ODIs.

maniac Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 ishant sharma -every damn format he plays for every damn team! CT (avg 21)+M.OM in S.F...Result India Clean sweep, WI tri series (avg 26)-India win....One bad match which Taranga scored a freak 100 which India lost and Pakistan home series (avg 15)-Brilliant in ODI and T20....Lost 2-1 but average 15 is brilliant IPL-Team in S.F despite having the weakest batting line up
vayuu1 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Vinay jumping koomar, the only bowler who can run faster than his bowling speed.
MCcricket Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Players don't select themselves, captain and coach is a hack in picking up bowlers, same with selector's
vayuu1 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 N.Srinivasan ;-) He is not a parasite he is a magarmacch
gattaca Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 stop calling our players parasites. Ii accept they are crap but there are not many options for us. I think players need an extended run before they can be discarded. Saying 25 or 50 matches is not a good criteria you need to see if they are consecutive. Its a bit OTT to call parasites.

I see no point in calling them parasites. They are giving their best when they are in the team. If anyone thinks they are not good enough, blame the selectors, not the players. To call them "parasites" is just plain stupid.

StriKe Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 @Domaink Agree with you, Can you change the topic name? They are playing for our team but calling them parasite is not good. We call vinay as legend :dontknow:
NareshK Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Vinay Kumar is a Karnataka quota pick. No other explanation why this guy is picked. He has nothing going for him and even a kid knows this fact.
Crookbond Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I still remember Dinesh Mongia getting picked over an in-form Laxman in the Worlcup that india lost pathetically. It still baffles me to this day about that idiotic decision. The only thing that can be worse is if they pick Vinay and Ishant over Zak and Yadav in WC2015 citing giving "youngsters" chances. Exaggeration has no limits. In the year leading to WC 2003, VVS Laxman averaged 31.61 with a SR of 71.61 in 19 innings. 16 of those innings were played at No. 3 and the rest 3 at No.4. It wasn't that Mongia was any better but to say VVS Laxman was "in form" is quite a stretch of imagination.
PAA-G Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Dhobi should be sacked....his politix playing raina at 4 indicates his intentiona of zabardasti settling raina at 4 in tests

youngindia Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 ok the wording could have been much better done and directed. "by parasite", my frustration mainly stems from repeated inclusions due to domestic heroics and the repeated failures on international stage leading to the inevitable fruitless outcome in the end after years of disappointment. In this manner, their repeated selection is parasitic. ofcourse these assessments are meant from a professional standpoint only. nothing personal. I think players need an extended run before they can be discarded. Saying 25 or 50 matches extended runs can be given to identified prospects who have something special about them.but the intial filter has to be done. This goes against the logic of a sound sporting system. talent identification has to be very good. you have to reject the mediocre just as you identify the best. the best players are often known from early teens.yes some may progress late depending on the sport. to say that it cannot be identified that likes of mongia were not going to make it is something I don't buy.
