Huh, short memories?? Raina was one of the key reasons we won the WC. Just because the audience doesn't have much attention on him, doesn't make him a bad player. And next, every player has technical difficulties, even your Pujara. And technique itself can be overrated as matter of fact is a runs is all that matter. Many successful players don't boost with great techniques. Poor reason to talk about technique each time.

You do realize that isn't all that matters and yet, he did decent over Australia in his limited opportunities. If so, perhaps Pujara should never play away tests matches with his poor record. He certainly deserves a chance and is a ideal player to have in any team.

Didn't do too bad there last time I checked. And you should be worried about other players as well. It doesn't make a lot of sense when player XYZ gets out on fast bowling, to react as saying it was a good deliver and thus the player was at no fault. But same thing happen to Raina, the reaction alters completely.

Dhoni i dont think is an issue. He has been a steller performer for India when we have played ODIs in Aus. I think the aussie pitches suit his style of play. Even Rohit or kohli i am not worried about. Raina, Jadeja etc i am worried about.

Raina is now a veteran of ODI matches and has had ample chances to prove his worth btw i am not saying that Raina should be the only one monitored. Moniter every batsman and failures should be dropped. The point in this thread is that Raina does not have the technique for number 4. He does have the potential ability to cope with the pace at 6.

Raina plays shortball as good/bad as the likes of shewag , GG and ganguly...but the media and fans seem to have singled him out ...its unfortunate the kind of pressure hes been put..deserves more respect and credit than hr gets in my opinion. People are ok with some one like GG who plays the short ball poorly as well has pokes at anything which swubgs away from his body ...for a Test opener mind you . Raina with one weakness is not technically good enuf for our Odi middlr order ...wow @ our experts

Why can't gauti play at 4 agree he is an opener,but his main problem has been poking early on in the innings,when the ball is new,he has got all the shot in the book,he is a good runner between wicket,good player of spin can attack at times,virat and him at no 3 and 4 can be a very good combination,also he is a better player technically than Raina ,not a powerful striker like raina though,but then you have yuvi,dhoni for that role along with sir.

Rohit,Yuvi,Jaddu,Sehwag...all of them have poor record in Australia.

That depended on his strike rate. sir is an allrounder. Personally i agree that Sir in aus will not be good enough. but he has been in good form with the ball since 2013. Yuvi has last played in aus in 2008. I think Yuvi himself has become a much better player since. Secondly he has utility with the ball (a higher utility than Raina) and also raises his game for the big tournaments. Rohit unlike Raina has some crucial knocks to his credit. The highest score of Raina in aus is 40.... rohit has a good knock in the CB series final. Secondly with him its an issue of temperament.

I think we are all missing the point. In India and the subcontinent Raina will be the first person in the team i will put down. Away from the sub i wont have him in my team. Personally speaking i feel Raina should come it at 3 in the T20s because the next two T20 world cups are in the sub.

Well throw him in and see what happens. Sometimes you just need faith. Otherwise you are going to end up a wasted talent like Graeme Hick or a player who can't do anything right in selectors' eyes and have your confidence shattered while other players do worse (Hughes).

Lol...no. As soon as Raina comes to bat, opposition target him with Short balls because his weakness is pretty evident. GG, Ganguly and Sehwag didnt had those problems. Lets put it this way, Raina expect bouncer as soon as he comes to the crease but he has hardly done anything to sort out his weakness. Sometime it seems like he is running away from genuine quick balls to save himself from injury. Ganguly during his early days had weakness in leg side, but he worked hard on net and became a good player in both side of the wicket. Raina needs to sort out his weakness. You pitch the bowl full or good length, there isnt a better striker than Raina. But the moment you bowl short, he become a sitting duck.
