What you are saying is that, juniors need to be ignored as long as our seniors are available for selection ? Take a wild guess the number of games it took for Tendulkar to develop into a world class ODI player that he became ? 80 odd games! Why shouldnt we phase the big three out, giving Rohit, Tiwary or a Badri a spot in the lineup ? Werent you the one who wanted the seniors to retire from ODIs (post the WC debacle) and focus on tests ? Look at what a fine striker Uthappa has become in the short run we've given him. Am sure you'd have liked Laxman to play ahead of him. My personal belief is that at this point no more than one spot must be taken by a senior player and that goes to Tendulkar on recent form. I'll play an entire lineup full of youngsters. As it is, we arent winning every ODI series with our seniors in the ranks, so there isnt much downside playing the guys who won the T20 worldcup.

And what did the youngsters did in those matches? It's really damn easy to play with numbers with selected few matches, and that's what bumper is absolutely good at. Problem is numbers never show the full picture, and specially the tailor made stats. BTW, Mr. HS, what did you think of umpiring yesterday and why don't I see it in your every post. You know what, don't bother. Already had you figured out as a class A self loather.

Any team chasing 310+ runs to win would give an arm, leg, and bit more to be left with a 8 RPO target in the last 15 overs with 8 wickets in hand(one of the wickets lost being a pinch hitter and not a batsman).

Viswanath Ganguly's `self absorbed' approach comes in for a critical view Mumbai: The BCCI has placed its trust on Rahul Dravid to take forward Indian cricket in the forthcoming series against Bangladesh, Ireland and England. The BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said that there was never any doubt of the Karnataka batsman not being given a further extension. On Saturday, the BCCI treasurer, N. Srinivasan, listed the number of wins recorded under Dravid's captaincy, including the first Test series win in the West Indies in 35 years. Mr. Srinivasan also pointed out that there had been several instances in the past where the BCCI had stepped in during tricky situations to give direction to the selectors. Unanimous vote Sources told The Hindu that the five selectors gave a unanimous vote to Dravid to demonstrate their resolve not to go back to Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. Tendulkar's appointment as vice-captain after the away series in South Africa was essentially to make him proactive. Whatever good vibes Ganguly evoked, following his return to form in the Test series against South Africa, was lost following his `self-absorbed' attitude in the World Cup matches against Bangladesh and Bermuda. Dravid's candour in not pointing a finger at any of his colleagues was not taken at face value in the course of his interaction with the BCCI office-bearers, but the story of Ganguly's approach, of being not alert to the team's needs, against Bangladesh in particular, has spread thick and fast. Ganguly, who made 66 (178 minutes, 129b), was dismissed in the 44th over and Yuvraj Singh in the 43rd over. Ravi Shastri wrote in his column that, given the circumstances, they should not have played the shots they did after putting on 85 runs for the fifth wicket. Messages `ignored' It seems that the team management was cut up with Ganguly's slow scoring (against Bangladesh) in spite of sending messages seven times through Dinesh Karthik and during the drinks intervals to look for quick runs. Sources also said that countless messages were sent to Ganguly against Bermuda against whom he made 89 (161 mins, 114b). He expressed his frustration when dismissed 11 short of a century and, more importantly, one run short of 1000 runs in World Cup matches. Though he reached the personal landmark against Sri Lanka, observers within and outside the BCCI are convinced that his batting approach against Bangladesh made matters worse for the Indian team. The lacklustre performances of some players in the World Cup also led to the Working Committee members to urge the office-bearers to direct the selection committee to pick a young team for the series in Bangladesh. I think the period before and for a year after the 2007 WC was the most difficult for die hard Indian fans, particularly those supporting so called oldies. In every forum there were a few Indians lambasting the team, calling these players who toiled hard for years as selfish and money hungry people. These peole were much more vitriolic and harsh than even Pakistani fans Thank God we are out of that phase right now. I think BCCI and the selectors handled this pretty well. As for die hard fans like us, we were just biding our time, trusting our players and the team. After the Chappel fiasco, Dravid's retirement from ODIs was handled very well. Sachin validated our trust in him in all forms of games he played. Some people who criticised rightly are also praising them now. But these blind critics are very few in numbers on all forums now and many have stopped posting all together Fans always have rights to criticise a player's performance but these guys went so overboard. How can they question a player's integrity and honesty?
