Never made it to be poor, you are reading way too much into that. Knott, Healy and Marsh were better. Alan Knott is not given enough credit because keeping to Derek Underwood, John Snow and co is a mean feat on those decks If I had one less batsmen then Gilly is in but I have so many great batsman that I would prefer Healy or Knott instead. That's it, it is not a knock on Gilchrist but it gives more credit to the better keepers (Knott, Marsh and Healy)

Yes,Mcgrath at least in a 2nd xi.He had more control than any paceman and the best ever stats of a pace bowler.However he lacked the all-out speed and variations of Marshall,Akram and Lillee while Richard Hadlee was better batsman.Akram and Mcgrath made the ultimate seam bowling combination,brilliantly combing pace and swing with control and consistency.

I believe Australia, England and NZ were still segregated until the late 60s, so there's that. I don't know how he averaged close to 100 in India w/o neutral umpiring maybe our standards compared to our neighbors are a little better.:hysterical:

Underwood was like fast spin. It would skid a lot. He was nowhere close to Warne, Muralithdaran and top class spinners but he was a skiddy spinny pace bowler thing that would be hard to keep to. Stats with keeping imo aren't really the best indicator. I go by watching them because you can tell who is good and who is average like Wade. Haddin has a lot of dismissals as well and apparently averages 4.6 per match. So yeah Stats.

The reason because Warne and Murli were difficult to keep was they were big turners of the ball on most surfaces and with their variations thy were difficult to keep to. Underwood was like Kumble or Chandrashekhar type of bowler, who difficult to keep to, because of bounce but not big turners. I would say even Brad Hogg was difficult to because batsmen could rarely read his variations, so it was not easy for WK too.

In the point of the thread. I feel that with all that batting I would rather those keepers that I listed than Gilchrist. The case of the poll, I would rather have Lara over Richards. I would have also had Hutton over Grace but that's a different story.

But Hogg's variations were difficult to pick. Ball does not turn on wet wickets so it will come straight like a medium pacer.
