Gavaskar would have been more appropriate than Grace with his great experience and records against the greatest of bowling attacks.Imran would have been a great match-winning fast bowling allrounder to accompany Sobers,while Gilchrist was the ultimate match-winner of his era.Lara at his best was marginally ahead of Tendulkar in context of turning a game single-handedly and bearing the brunt of a weak batting side.Classically,Lillee was marginally ahead of Marshall with greater speed and agression.

I can use the reverse argument saying that considering the bowlers are of high calibre they will keep generating chances so even some shoddy keeping leading to a dropped catch is no biggie as the next chance will come along anyways.

Well Ian Healy is a decent batsman and him and Warne were like the best duo together. Their communication was just excellent. How would a lineup like that fail that they would need Gilchrist? :haha: Healy is a better keeper and the same for Knott. Knott is a good selection but people want Gilchrist because of his batting rather than his keeping ability.

His keeping to big turning warne was amazing, also no doubts that throughout his caarer his glove work alone was the best in the world. His glove work was as good and maybe better then Knotts and Healys. In fact Knott is way overarted, gillys glovewrok was better. Healy had top glove work though

Healy had top glove work though Never made it to be poor, you are reading way too much into that. Knott, Healy and Marsh were better. Alan Knott is not given enough credit because keeping to Derek Underwood, John Snow and co is a mean feat on those decks If I had one less batsmen then Gilly is in but I have so many great batsman that I would prefer Healy or Knott instead. That's it, it is not a knock on Gilchrist but it gives more credit to the better keepers (Knott, Marsh and Healy)

Ian had amazing smooth glovework, great foresight. His glovework was a lot cleaner than Gilchrist. It is pretty noticeble. You can see with the Ashes in 1997 how smooth it was to Gillespie, McGrath, Warne and Reiffel. Then you can see it in the Caribbean on those fast decks where it is tough to keep. He was quicker on the stumpings than Gilchrist because he would bend down low on his knees. Several of his teammates (Warne, McGrath and Steve Waugh) said that Healy was the better keeper. It is the little things that build up.
