maniac Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I think Imran Khan telling Wasim and Waqar to bowl as fast as they can not focussing on line and length is hugely exaggerated...Let us just leave it at that those guys were naturally gifted and had the brains to use their skills.
Number Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 How could Yuvraj, Raina neve make it in tests despite the guidance of RD, SRT and Laxman ? And Yuvraj is one of the finest talents.

Will be interesting to see how many chances Yuvraj got in batting paradises....Not saying he didn't just wondering,Same thing with Raina, they either were playing in conditions which were not their strength or batting too low in real good conditions,But obviously we have seen enough to say that they don't have it at the test level in them.
vamos_rafa Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 As much as I admire Sachin, this IMO is a bit far fetched. Every professional set of people always have the special one. It's not that once that person leaves, things stop. the setup evolves itself in someway or the other and those who don't perish. It's a chance for some of the others to step up and do something which Sachin has been doing.

gattaca Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 That is all bull shyt. It's good to have him around in the dressing room, but modern day cricket you need more time off from cricket a to put your brain in the right place then someone's teaching. All these mentoring sessions didn't help us at all to save us from embarrassment in 2007 world cup exit or 0-8 England, Aus tour combined. We will miss Tendulkar's batting for next year or two for sure in test cricket. And then we will have some players who would have fit in the team well. 0-8 is more mental than technical. We were in good positions in begging of the series in both of them. 2007 world cup if you create factions in team you don't have a team to win.
gattaca Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 We are doing great in batting. Where we need a mentor is in the bowling department. Zaheer is ideal for this role. when you are good at something doesnt mean you ignore it. Do we have a bedi, chandrashekar, prassana or even kumble ? look at our spin bowling. we were great look at us now.
Jersey #10 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Not sure how sachin's mentoring would have helped ishant n vinay. Wrong thread? Just Sachin's presence is enough to inspire rest of the 10 guys. Then again, no amount of inspiration or mentoring can help Ishant and Vinay.
