I read lot of articles where Sachin helped team members. Ex: yuvraj said he helped him decoding mendis. who will take the role of Sachin in Indian team for mentorship?

We are naturally talented :) atleast in the batting department.
But still we will have youngsters like zol and baba in future. They will need mentorship when they have technical issues.

That is all bull shyt. It's good to have him around in the dressing room, but modern day cricket you need more time off from cricket a to put your brain in the right place then someone's teaching. All these mentoring sessions didn't help us at all to save us from embarrassment in 2007 world cup exit or 0-8 England, Aus tour combined. We will miss Tendulkar's batting for next year or two for sure in test cricket. And then we will have some players who would have fit in the team well.

Spot on. All the mentoring crap was just an excuse.

Lets not be always under this false assumption. There is a reason Pakistan keeps on producing good bowlers but their "naturally" talented batsmen fall away after debut. Their is a reason Indian batsmen hold their own even on the world stage while bowlers, not matter how good they looked first (like Pathan), fall away The importance of batting and getting tips from someone like Sachin can never be underestimated. The tips he can give might take years to figure out for someone on their own I hope Sachin stays in some capacity to mentor our new guys (but not as coach or official capacity) and maybe to the rest of the youngsters in other teams too

Sorry, its your post which sounds like bull ****. Yes aging superstars let us down during 8-0, whats your point? Again can you tell the exact reason why India is always able to produce talented batsmen who adjust so easily in international cricket but bowlers who fall away within a couple of years? Can you tell me why it is opposite with Pakistan? You cannot believe the small tips like how to meet the ball, or small changes in your stance which players pick up overs years of experience. There is a reason why young player after young player credit the tips provided by our senior players I am surprised even after seeing how lack of mentorship has affected our young bowlers big time, we still take this aspect of our batting for granted

Sachin is not sitting down a whole group of international cricketers and telling them "all right guys bat and pad together" or " this is how you play a defensive stroke". They do that at the U-15 level. At most he can tell them where to kick the copy machine instead of calling in a repairman.

India has rich tradition of coaching in batting department. It is not like you permanently have an experienced batsman to sit in dressing room to guide you. After Gavaskar retired we had TEndulkar, Followed by Laxman, Dravid. In between we had guys like Azharuddin, Vengsarkar, Vishwanath . Most of our temperament is honed at the first class level. Why couldn't Tendulkar turn Yuvraj, Kaif, Raina into a legendary batsmen. In bowling it works. In batting you and your non striker against 11 players. Atleast in bowling you can get tips on the go. We are confused with inspiration and mentoring.

Spot on about the 0-8 thrashing. About the last part of your post - we are already missing sachin batting since last 20 test matches and since last 10-12 tests he's been playing mainly on emotion factor and has been a non performing liability and a bojh( burden) on the team blocking place for a youngster.

Its shameful to be 2-2 at home like this. Sure we had two improbable chases on flat pitches but that doesnt take away from the fact that we lost to a remodeled OZ team twice at home for whatever reason. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

Indian team is always being remodeled in bowling department, a never ending process and that is the reason, we will never be world champion like Australia or WI once were. We lost to Australia in 2009 4-2. Even at that time, Australia were re-building, They are rebuilding since 2008 when a large chunk of their players retired but they were never a poor ODI side. They always have batsmen who can tear any bowling attack apart and their bowling has always been good enough in every format. It is their test batting which has been an issue.

In India, you will find batting mentors everywhere from school to club cricket. Coaches at every level can tell you how to bat, but no one knows how to bowl fast. Fast bowling i snot considered a specialized job. Anyone who can run from 10-15 yards and delivery the ball without spinning it becomes a fast bowler at lower levels.
