Look at idiot like Stuart Broad , used to bowl like an idiot, Bang it in, back of length. But good coaching has mad him realise and develop movement with a good length. Now pitched it fuller and looks for movement. One hopes that Ishant can discover this. But must stay at least 2 years away and work hard

When you cant get the ball to move' date=' you get desperate and resort to changes in length. If he could make the ball move he could stick to a certain length. So, it shows that he could bowl to his field. Highest wicket taker for us in CB series 2008. It is all about mindset. When brain is muddled with too many things he has tried to do over the years, unsure of his ability because of poor and flawed basics that have crept in because of those things he tried over the years, and is indecisive which approach to adopt then this is what is the result.

Of no use. It wont help him at all. I do not think he can improve his basics by playing matches. These things are done in the nets. The best thing for him should have been to go back to his old coach and work in the nets for the time being.

When brain is muddled with too many things he has tried to do over the years, unsure of his ability because of poor and flawed basics that have crept in because of those things he tried over the years, and is indecisive which approach to adopt then this is what is the result.[/quote'] even if u are a decent bowler,things might not go in ur way and ur mind is muddled but things are not going his way for 4 years now!! surely he bowled some excellent spells,got MOS but when? 5 years back!! he has worsen with each day,i have no hopes from this guy because i know he'll bowl at least 2 filthy bowls every over in any format + he doesn't have any stock ball.. he should stay away from the team for at least a year,work on his weakness( which are infinitely high),get back to his coach and work on many things,for the starters- re-model the seam position,bowl at least 5 balls on the same line/length,get these basics right then go to the next level of developing a stock delivery,bowl to a plan,learn how to set a batsman etc ..play more domestic matches ,perform well and then he might at last become a better bowler who can come back into the team..a LONG,LONG way to go !!

Nothing works better than confidence gained from taking wickets. Cant expect a player to be working in nets when the domestic season is on in its full earnest

Why not? Getting a break is better than getting worse with every game you play. One week of break is enough if one really wants to do things again.

You need to start from scratch and introspect and analyze every step of your bowling which is not really possible during a tournament.

I agree, once he gets his action sorted, everything else will fall into place, he will find movement, pace, bounce and consistency and that is what is lacking, he knows now he cannot afford to bowl 80 % now as Shami has raised the bar and earlier he had to compete with useless VK, Unadkat and even Bhuvi is a limited bowler

Irfan Pathan, lots of work in the nets , little match play, almost into oblivion now. Don't want to see Ishant go the same way. As a rhythm bowler, best way for him to regain that rhythm is to take lots of wickets. Technicalities will fall in place as he gains more confidence.

That is because of injuries. Ishant does not have any injury issue. Regarding technicalities, first he needs to sort out what kind of a bowler he wants to be. He is confused. He has not sort his seam position in last 4 years and it is not like he has not played FC in between. He got so many wickets in CLT20, Pak ODIs, England ODIs, WI triseries, what that confidence of getting wickets as done to him, nothing. Until he sorts his issues, he is not going to progress. He will take a few wickets in FC and will make a come back for SA tour which will worsen the things.
