maniac Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Goodbye SRT,I was very premature with my mourning :haha: since the announcement was made, thought I was numbed to it till the final speech :(( If it didn't move you then nothing will,Good Bye Sachin
maniac Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 As I have said before,I feel old now and a part of my childhood and youth has gone forever
Brainfade Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Namskaar-ree. Good to see you back. This thread reminded me of a post I made back in 2009. Four years later, nothing has changed this opinion. If anything, it has been reinforced: I contend that he is the greatest sportsman of all time - for his on-field accomplishments plus his longevity plus his impeccable character, his humility and above all - for carrying with unwavering grace the hopes and dreams of a billion people for 20 years - starting at age 16! No one in the history of sports can beat the combination - Don Bradman, Michael Jordan, Jackie Robinson, Jesse Owens, Pele, Tiger Woods and Muhammad Ali each have *some* of SRTs traits, but none of them have all of it. Given his humility, SRT may himself disagree with me, but he has no argument.
Hiten. Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 It suddenly feels like somebody just catapulted me from the sweet 90s to 2013. 24 years is a very long time but greedy side of me wanted more. Somehow it also feels the burden of being a fan has lightened from our side as we will not have a partisan crowd moving forward. That speech was ridiculous and it will take some courage on my side to rewatch it. Thank you for all your memories sachin, you made the 90s glorious and instilled winning spirit in our dud Indian team. however i sensed a sense of concern when he reiterated his point to gen x in regards to being chosen ones in representing team India and staying true to the game and its fans. I hope I'm wrong. Also, there goes our last cornerstone in middle order. I would like to rethank Rahul, laxi and ganguly for the memories. Adios boss! Sacheeeeeeeen Sacheeeeeeen! :((
Vilander Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 You should've been there. Unfortunately,I was sitting next the biggest idiots in the stadium. They thought the match, no wait, the series was fixed. Here's how the conversation went. Idiot 1 - Yeh poora series fixed hai re Idiot 2 - haan re, thoda bhi fight nahi hai Idiot 1 - kaise dega fight, west indies ne poora second string team bheja hai toh sachin ko easy sendoff dene. Holy - Excuse me... WHAT? Second string side??? Idiot 1 - Ya dude.. their main players are missing. Holy - What? Who? Idiot 1 - Pollard, Bravo.. etc Idiot 2 - Arre Dwayne smith bhi kidhar hai. Holy - :wall: Lets just watch Sachin bat. Holy (to himself) - Kill me NOW. Man that must have been pretty difficult to hear in a test match, although you could have tried this.:banghead: or better :poink: :poink:

Chandan Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Still haven't recovered from Sachin's retirement. Now all we are left with are memories only? Really? Just can't accept! He may have retired but he'll never retire from my heart! Will always keep all his innings very close to heart! There will NEVER be another player like Sachin.

To be fair to these guys, the series would have been a bit more competitive with pollard, bravo, smith in the WI side. :haha:

coffee_rules Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Good Bye, Boss. Thanks for all the memories and service to Team India. I don't think there is nobody else as motivated as you are to play cricket for so long even with waning abilities. Walking in to bat, one last time.... Good to see BBSaar/LurkerSaab posting.
Roshanrocks Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Yea.. It still hasnt sink in... no more SRT on the pitch, in between the 22 yards. No more of the butterflies in stomach feeling when he used to bat, no more of.... :(( Adios SRT... Thanks for the memories... :icflove:
Square Drive Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Although I always tried to emulate Aravinda and Lara more in terms of shot making, can't deny the fact that as a kid I used to adjust my crotch in Sachin style in the 90s when playing with friends... great memories still believe I got some big scores as a result of it specially when in out of form. Thank you Sachin :hatsoff:
