However i think they need to give him a chance at the test matches in years to come. His LOI stats are not the greatest at the moment. I think he has the potential to average between 30-35 with the ball and bat in test cricket.

R Dhawan has potential he can be better then VK, Unadkat easily, still Pathan much better then him, he is far better then Binny and other all rounders in domestic but far from test class yet he can be inducted slowly on A Tours

A really good alrounder is one who can make the team at least with one department either as a specialist batsman or a specialist bowler. Most alrounders of the past could do that. Bits and pieces alrounder do not work in test cricket.[/quote'] rkt Bhai- during those days batting competetion in india was not that Much but today even a RAHANE cant find a place in our batting so we need to consider guys like ASHWIN yusuf pathan Jadeja as all rounders... truly speaking except for that big 175 that Kapil played- Kapil's batting average was also in 20's... i saw rishi playing IPL matches and he has a bit of a confusing bowling action due to which he is not HIT and seems to be picked by MUMBAI indians regularlyeven ahead of some PAce bowlers....though i agree dhwal or abu nachim was better than him.

Look Ashwin is scoring runs and taking wickets. Number 1 all rounder in the world We have to play one spinner, even saffies will in tahir. Ashwin is easily the best batsman from all the bowlers and proven that can play bowling of international standard In summary to advocate dropping ashwin is insane

I beleive that Africans will not play Tahir against INDIANS - I bet they may not play any spinners at all and may ask any part timer to bowl if they have to..........i think it wud be 4 pace bowlers coming on OUR batsman. it makes no sense for them to play a spinner....like Tahir...i suppose he is a LEG Spinner....i beleive they wud create wickets which would be death bed for Spinners..........if ashwin gets one wicket at an average of 50+ in tests in africa it is futile to play him better play a fast bowler- i support HORSES for COURSES.... INDIA lost in england as india did not have good pace bowlers and Swing bowlers.. we were playing pravin kumar and IShant in england...aaron was not played by dhoni for reasons which he only knows.. In ipl matches dhawan's bowling looked mediocre, awful action with no pace. He is getting wkts in ranji on mostly dharamshala pitch which favours the quicks. Have to play him in odi to judge him., Otherwise it will be like playing unadkat in last SA series

if vinay kumar can bat like jadeja or half as good as ashwin, he wouldnt be such a waste player in the fan's PoV so if rishi dhawan is only as good as vinay the bowler + half decent bat then he is automatically a good all round player for ODIs

Dude, he is a joke of an all-rounder. He bowls around 127-130k and his batting isn't great either. He plays on dharmasala pitch which we all know is very helpful for seamers. He has no potential whatsoever and its time people stop hyping these cricketers who haven't achieved anything.

Having a pace bowling alrounder would help us outside the subcontinent. Ofcourse, he should not be a bits and pieces player. We don't have a proper bowler who can bat. Do we have a batsman who can bowl decently at atleast 130 k ? I don't think anyone of us here has a clear idea about Rishi Dhawan in the longer format. In FC, he averages 44 with the bat and 23.9 with the ball, SR 49.9. Is tall and can move the ball around 130 k. Is he a good enough batsman for the number 7 position ? More importantly, how is his backfoot play and technique against the short ball ? I would. like to know .

This! I am not sure about how effective Ashwin's bowling will be in SA but it will be a big gamble to drop him. We know that he can bat even in foreign condition...

I love this bowling lineup in theory and for the future. Nice combination of pace, skill and different heights. Md Shami Ahmed. -- pace + skill + wicket taker Umesh yadav -- genuine pace + wicket taker Ishwar Pandey -- bounce/ height + skill + wicket taker Rishi Dhawan (allrounder) -- height + batting ability But, 2 uncapped bowlers , Dhawan being an unknown quantity too, does not look practical just now.

I wud play BK shaMi Yadav and ashwin in first Test But if ashwin does not Suceed as a bowler than Replace Him with either Rishi Dhawan or a Genuine fast bowler like Varun Aroon or ZAk. Ideally I wanna umesh aaron both to play in the eleven BK and Shammi too....that's a fearsome AttAck. Africans will stop preparing fast tracks if India play Varun Umesh Shammi and Bhuvi

this selection committe makes reasonable selections. i trust they would have the common sense to choose Zaheer Shami Bhuvi Umesh yadav Mohit these have to be selected if we require a realistic chance of picking 20 wickets in each test.

Ishwar Pandey is also a Bhuvi type bowler who Will need a new ball to Strike- if he gets the new ball I guess he may get a wicket else with the old ball I don't think a 130K baller with some bouncing skills would Suceed. I am clear he shud not be picked unless he turns into a 140K bowler wth All his skills. BK has great skills but bcos he is slow , he is finding it Tuf In Tests.....a paceman who plays for International teams need to Be fast with skills..... See england- anderson - Swing n 137 to 145K Broad- bounce +136 to 146K One more Tall bowler is bowling for them - he Also bowls upto 145k with good bounce. See australia too All Test bowlers shud have the capability to bowl between 136 to 145 with skills - johnson bowls till 156K....he is exceptional. Stop expecting miracles from pandey or unadkat. I have high respect for bhuvi"s skills and even Zak"s skill. But with bhuvi- if conditions favour then he will be a great weapon As he is a Thinking bowler....do u guys know BK was hardly bowled by Dhoni in india Tests.....just first 4 overs than forget bhuvi...that's dhoni mantra. If it doesn't swing, than bk is ineffective.
