All his drives are ahead of his body his defence is good and like I said he will do well in middle order or in Australia but against Steyn that technique won't work while opening

Steyn is extremely potent when he gets his outswing going. When that doesn't happen he is only half potent. Remember how Jaffer and Karthik played him with absolute ease

No one can convince me that inni g where he could not touch ball with bat was right way of playing Steyn It's his problem and either u guys can accept it or keep fooling urself.. He will not miss edges in next game one of them will swing less and get edge and in tests it will be same We are all here so why not wait for remaining matches...

Not just Steyn.. he can struggle against anyone who has good channel outside the off stump. Vernon Philander too. Rohit has a good measure of pace. Problem is judging movement.

He did not try to play them most of the time and let them go away while playing original line. You must understand what is original line. You play original like you will hardly get out on outswing if it swings a lot like that. It will beat you and if you will try to play them trying to cover the swing, you will get edge sooner or later because it is difficult to cover that kind of swing at that pace over every ball. He was not bowling 125K of PK or BK speed but 140k or more and cutting leg spinners like Warne. Any batsman who plays inside the line will look like that even Amla if he had face Steyn. Amla would have just thrown his hands at the ball and would have gotten edge. In such conditions, idea should be to play compact and close to the body which is what he was doing. Steyn bowled a few balls far too wide to play with that kind of swing. He tried to play some of them but there was too much swing.

and you forget Steyn had got him before 50, just umpire did not get the nick. It was not like he was completely comfortable against Steyn. Here ball was swinging much more with more bounce and pace.

Nothing is ideal. Some things work for some, do not work for someone else. Rohit cannot play like Dravid. Even with a great technique, Dravid's record in SA and Aus is not so stellar on helpful tracks. Dravid had a big stride too. Even SRT's record in SA is far lower than his test record. So Survival and see off such spells is important. SA is the most difficult place for overseas batsmen. Ponting also averages in 40s in SA.

How well did Kohli bat against Steyn compared to Rohit? Rohit was mostly within the crease on the back foot trying to survive. Rohit did get some insane deliveries but some are suggesting he did well against Steyn. He was lucky while trying to survive that burst.
