jhakati Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Games vs england? aaron can be a great partnership breaker in the middle overs. Thats where we struggle because batsmen get set. They wont if he bowls with such pace but more consistently and in better areas. Might i also add that you dont become a match winner after a few games. Give him a consistent run then by all means make an assessment. why would you give a consistent run to someone who's been a failure in international cricket so far and has a first class bowling average of 34 against ordinary domestic batsmen?

Midfielder Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 He does not need to be dropped but next game should go to Pandey.
rkt.india Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I bet he read the posts and is being sarcastic. :P No, I am serious. I am deeply disappointed. Guys like him, Yadav, Shukla, Suyal are wasting a rare gift of pace they possess, a rare entity in India.

I thought he was a hack. Boy did he change my opinion. He looked like a pro from the get go on his return. He was already 50% finished product. There was marked difference between the shami we saw in zimbabwe and the shami we see now. Where did he learn? Everything in domestic where there won't be much pressure. At the internationals if you are going to do "on the job training" results can be unfavorable. When you play for INdia you should be atleast 50% ready.
Blue Star Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Dumb op. No idea what he is talking about.

He always had the ingredients swing, seam, knack of picking wickets since I saw him first in his first duleep trophy match. But what he realized after WI tour where he was dropped that he will have to work harder and maintain his intensity and give his best effort every time, he holds the ball. He worked on his fitness after Zim tour during A tour to SA and after that. Aaron was bowling very good before he got injured. You posted Shoiab's delivery to Dravid, now go to youtbe again and see Cook's dismissal of Aaron beaten by sheer pace when Cook was taking the game away but that wicket turned the game on its head. With Aaron, it looks like his tweaked bowling action is not settled enough. It will take time. He is not getting that right length, either too short or too full. This is coach's job to get him back on track. Regarding bowlers need to learn things in FC, yes they need to but gap between our FC and international us huge. Most of our bowlers realize once they bowl to high quality batsmen and their real learning process start.

Don't think Dawes would help him in any way. Has he started to bowl much faster now? Is more consistent with that high 140s now. He was also more accurate before the injury. Now he is messed up with that pace. Full tosses and reckless beamers.

He is certainly bowling faster than before. Now he is clocking 150 max, before it was around 146-147. Even his average pace is higher than before. It is as quick as Johnson and Morkel now in last 2 matches played. It is the tweaked bowling action which has helped him increase pace but is yet to get his consistency right.
Blue Star Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 For me this is a secular bowling attack. A Christian, Muslim and Hindu. But I want umesh replacing bhuvi.

This is the trickier part. Lot of guys unintentionally lose the pace while striving for accuracy and it becomes a habit. It is tough. Entirely upto him to get there.

Shami and BK do not have any real varieties. They just hit right lengths yesterday and barely strayed on pads. It is the right length which is the most important things, three-quarter length which those two bowled regularly. Aaron either bowled length balls where he was driven for a few boundaries or a bit too short where batsmen had enough time to get back and play him on a slow pitch. The right length comes with practice. McGrath bowled that length all his life and he never swung the ball, just hit the seam. Akram was saying the same too. He never tried too many things on flat tracks rather tried to contain by bowling back of a length.

Just sending them to some academy for a few days is not going to help. From domestic structure, to international set-up, from team management to captain no one has a clue how to guide and manage pacers. Only thing they know seems to be to cut down on pace and concentrate on length. In the end, bowlers end up having neither Shami is clicking as he is much more mature. But he is soon going to be run into the ground and will lose his zip

But he is soon going to be run into the ground and will lose his zip Because we dont have many backup seamers, the ones who are doing well are overworked and they get injured. If we had a couple of decent seamers on the bench, Shami could have been rested for this Asia Cup but the ones who come in to the side like Varun Aaron, Mohit Sharma or Umesh are not grabbing their chances. Hope Ishwar Pandey gets picked and he does decently. Cant expect too much from seamers in these conditions though.

It is only from Aus series, he looked like he belongs when he realized that he needs to work hard more in terms of his fitness and effort every time he ball in his hand. Ishwar Pandey realized how far behind he was in terms of an international prospect when he went for A tour to SA and bowled to good Aus and SA batsmen. He was our most successful bowler their both in one day and 4 day matches, but he accepted, he needed to do a lot. He realized that he was not quick enough to trouble the batsmen at the highest level consistently. He accepted he needed to increase his pace a bit more if he is bowling in right areas. While he was bowling 130-135 then, he wanted to be at 140 to be more effective and survive at international level.
