saneindian Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 4 seamers at Durban where Swann, Bhajji and Herath have won tests recently?
Trichromatic Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Ashwin won't be dropped for Durban test. However we should go for 4 pacers if pitch isn't any good for spinners. I doubt Ashwin can do anything at all with ball on unhelpful tracks.

saneindian Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Umesh Yadav is in no rhythm at all and thats the reason why he's not being picked. With the practice match rained out, it was always going to be very difficult to punt on him in a 4 bowler attack.
div Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Bhuneshwar over Yadav. Will help Dhoni move the game fast as he has shortner run up and doesn't run out of steam that fast compared to other players in the team. He is a unique bowler like Praveen Kumar. Praveen had brilliant success in England test with his long spells. Bhuvneshwar will do the same with his military medium pace, yet with brilliant swing. This is where our slip cordon will come into play a lot and will be getting more catches, than what they were getting today in a blue moon which they also dropped. Trust me, Bhuvneshwar will add great value to this bowling line up. LONG SPELLS, LONG SPELLS, LONG SPELLS. REMEMBER that. 2010 batch of duke ball, swing for 90 overs. I haven't seen so often when the ball has seamed and swung around thewhole day. http://www.firstpost.com/sports/ive-not-seen-the-ball-swing-so-much-fletcher-58560.html
Cricketics Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 2010 batch of duke ball, swing for 90 overs. http://www.firstpost.com/sports/ive-not-seen-the-ball-swing-so-much-fletcher-58560.html It might be but that's not what is the full reason. Praveen action is such that he bowls his military medium pace/swing bowling in a such a way that he will get cut and swing in every condition out there. He even troubled Australia in ODI CWB tri series when he was introduced for the first time by Dhoni there in 2007/08. He didn't have pae then either and nor he does now, just the way he bowls. Hence I feel, Bhuvneshwar might come in handy.
asterix Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Whichever bowlers Dhoni feels comfortable with and is ready to back should be selected. He shouldn't be forced to select any bowler whom he doesn't likes and won't back him fully in the match anyway...

No idea why all saying not in rhthumn. Looked good to me Those overs ashwin go,t just imagine if Yadav had had them on this track. Just told him short fast bursts. Could have ripped through tail

Could have ripped through tail Was getting a little better but thats about it, IMO did not look ready for comeback to test cricket at all. I would much rather want to see him being picked when he is himself confident. Lots of cricket ahead of him. Think they made a mistake by keeping him on the bench during the WI series. Should have asked him to play more FC cricket and bowl lots of overs once they realized he was struggling (which Umesh himself stated in an interview) and hence not going to play those tests.
Zanjeer Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 I don't know what ashwin is doing in this team...❕❕❕..we should play 4 fast bowlers next match..
Gunner Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Yadav is a must next match. He's a genuine strike bowler who will get you wickets irrespective of conditions.
thecricketer Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 It was Dhoni's stupidity not to pick Umesh Yadav in place of Ashwin. Umesh would have helped India's chances to win the first test. India wasted lots of time yesterday by scoring slowly and not declaring the innings earlier. I think this match gonna finish as a draw because of stupid captaincy again. A great chance to win a test series in SA thrown away.
JourneyMan Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Our fast bowlers don't have the stamina to bowl throughout the day. You need spinners. Also, if the pitch deterioriates then you would regret not having your top spinners around.
zumi Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 play four bowlers or five bowlers, our bowlers won't make jack difference bowling at lame 125 kph. Umesh Yadav shud have been playing in this match in place of Zaheer or Pisshant
Zanjeer Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Ashwin bowled 65 overs and wicket less in this test match. I won't be surprised if dhoni plays either jadeja or ashwin next match.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Yadav in for ashwin. If our batsmen cant make the runs then whats the point? Durban will have more pace right? Either way, we missed a 4th seamer and kumar is ineffective with old ball; even though im a fan of his. Yadav in for pure pace and reverse swing
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 jadeja would be better, atleast he keeps things tight and is a brilliant fielder. Ashwin thinks that just yelling and showing aggression and passion will get him a spot. Needs to go
cowboysfan Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 the decline of Ashwin in all forms has been mindboggling,i have no idea why we are still playing him.A bowler should not be picked for his batting skills.
cowboysfan Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 jadeja for ashwin is a no brainer but i doubt dhoni has the stomach for it.
