Tailender Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 This. Whose the best with reverse for SA? Vernon with that pace won't make any difference. Steyn was working it up quite nicely in that Test against pakistan when Faf went ape on that zipper of his... just saying... :winky: He got it to reverse by the 20th over I think the conditions have favored indians, especially the reverse swing. In terms of batting it's just been excellent hard work. Pakistan trolled saffers by making tahir look good LOL. Saffers would have been much better off with McClaren who can bowl with the old ball...
youngindia Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 he must be reminded of this -2010 centurion -bowled out india for 136 on first day pitch affected by rain and South Africa 620/4d under friendly conditions from the second day. they are yet to pay their dues on this.
badmash Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 BS...South Africans think that no one can ever beat them with skill, its always the conditions that are to blame. The fact is that their presumably superior bowlers had no answers for Kohli, and now Pujara.
vvvslaxman Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I didn't see Indians saying "SA had better conditions in the first ODI"
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I didn't see Indians saying "SA had better conditions in the first ODI" Perfect answer to his ridiculous statement. Why can't he just accept that we have outplayed them so far?
jj_28 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 In other words ' date=' Philander is saying that he and the other South African bowling greats and 'to be greats ' , can succeed only if conditions are unusually in their favour. Even reasonably helpful conditions, duel paced pitch and home matches are not sufficient for them to be effective against India. :winky:[/quote'] THIS
NareshK Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 South African bowlers dont look threatening with the old ball. They are good with the new ball and there was plenty of help in this wicket in terms of bounce, pace, swing and seam movement but Indian batsmen blunted their attack by leaving lots of balls outside off stump and let them bowl to them. Lots of credit has to be given to the batsmen because its tough to know which ones to play and which ones to leave as some deliveries move away at the last instant. You need to know where your off stump is and you should have good technique and temperament. Indian batsmen are also very good on anything bowled on stumps or legs, so when bowlers bowled straight they worked them to leg side for singles and put away the occasional loose delivery. This is where they scored runs and succeeded. SA bowlers didnt have a back up plan to counter this plan from India and just stuck to their usual 4th or 5th stump line(which was successful against other teams) but batsmen didnt take the bait. Indian bowlers bowled much better with the old ball and got reverse swing. They bowled much straighter and on the stumps and got the lbws and bowleds. Its purely strategy and execution of plans and better cricket which worked in India's favor and not conditions.

vvvslaxman Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 It was like walking on a tightrope. Even one mistake could have triggered 47 all out collapse. They left the ball with pinpoint precision. If Indians carry that temperament everywhere they will shine everywhere. They are much more skilled than guys like Alistair cook. But Cook trumps them usually with temperament by playing waiting game. Say if Alistair cook had been in the same situation he would have ground the attack. But he would not have scored 96 runs in a single session like Pujara. Hope we carry this temperament and judgement everywhere. It is hard when you play lot of ODis and T20s. But we have to do.

He can guide these guys and they can hunt in pack. He can help them devise plans . Even if he doesn't take many wickets his presence is invaluable for our pacers.

Even if he doesn't take many wickets his presence is invaluable for our pacers. Thing is he will always pick wickets if there is little bit of help ..so I wanted him to play from start and this is reason I did not wanted bhuvan in test side cos he will just not do this wil older ball and then u have one spinner and pacer who are useless Shami too deserves credit and he bowled as well as any with little luck ..solid performance all around other than drop catches

Old guy Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I want Ashwin to contribute more though and not just look to defend runs and dart.should be used better.hopefully that happens in next innings Yeah but he did not bowled much anyway so let's wait and see Will chip in 2 wickets in 2nd innings I think if south Africa show fight but his role will be to keep things tight more than anything
vvvslaxman Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I want Ashwin to contribute more though and not just look to defend runs and dart.should be used better.hopefully that happens in next innings Yea. Dhoni should encourage him to be an attacking option. He gives a defensive leg side field set to Ashwin and Ashwin continues bowling from round the wicket. He should start over the wicket and tries to beat the batsman in flgiht

Let's wait and see if next match was not in Durban than we should have played 4 quick bowlers But problem is none of replacement will do holding job umesh is going to either get u wickets or go for some runs and I don't really think jaddu will add anything substantial with bat or ball
punjabi_khota Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Meh, India has won a test match in both of their last two tours. **** off. When conditions were ripe, Sreesanth the donkey blasted them out too.
