What's your expection from Dhoni as a batsman in test matches?

I agree yaar. I haven't been denying that. My question has been just that, how can he play that important innings? Important innings can be played when team is in trouble and team is about to be bowled out. You can only play important knocks when players are standing by you and they can rotate. LIke today Dhoni could have with Rahane. But usually if Indi aare 6 down, he has had to play more as a hitter than play rotation game as he knows the tail will be bowled out soon.

What! Our tail was pretty good in last away tours ,In england P.k,Bhajji,Mishra had many good innings it was dhoni who was out defending before them not even trying to increase the runs. In aus he had ashwin who was one of the indian batsman on the tour but dhoni always got out immediately. Whenever dhoni has batted with tail he has done well as captains go on defensive to dhoni so he can get few runs but he always get out before the tail.:((

Problem with Dhoni is that he is the most experience batsman in this team and also a captain, so his performance with the bat is going to directly affect other young batsmen's morale. I do not know how much confidence Dhoni has in himself as a batsman in test cricket overseas. I suspect he does not have much. This is where his performance and confidence as a batsman is also going to affect his thinking as a captain to. A batsman who does not have much confidence in his batting ability in these conditions, I suspect is not going to be a great captain tactically.

What I expect from Dhoni is a scratchy 20. What I wish from Dhoni is a stroke-filled 100. Dhobi usually delivers the latter at home, and the former abroad.

what i expect-play the second new ball with minimum bat lift and attack the deliveries in his zone much like he did successfully against boult,southie at home in 2012. what he'll do- playing outside the off and edge the ball to the slips.he is just useless when there is even an iota of swing. his keeping was abysmal in the last tour to england so not expecting it to get any better especially at his age

First of all he has to believe he can score normally and react to the bowling rather than going with predetermined notions that there is swing so i have to go down the track.His best innings away have come when he batted like a batsman.
