In Delhi LA elections, 17 candidates (10 out of them BJP) were found to established cases of "paid news" but the penalty by the CEO Delhi was to add the expenditure into the election expenses account. http://www.ceodelhi.gov.in/WriteReadData/PaidNews.pdf Legal paid news cannot be allowed in election time. It can only be done pre-elections. thats my understanding.

In the end you will have to take a chance with best option available. He may or may not be the perfect candidate. It is a complex country with deep rooted corruption. Nobody is going to fix problems overnight. IMO Modi is not the best option in BJP. There are others far better than him. People thinking one man can control India are wrong. India is parliamentary. Jaitley has questionable credentials , and no mass base. Sushma could have been contender, but she cant get votes. Rajanth Singh is not a leadership material, and political person comes across as someone who is cunning. Chuahan , Parikar couldn't achieve what Modi could achieve in polarizing the votes. who else?

Hate to talk all this stuff, but if people are thinking Modi will start Muslim massacre in this country, that or any such extreme is not possible. The President can dissolve the government and declare emergency.

The way he has taken over the BJP and the way anyone who questions him suddenly finds himself with their career finished/ticket cut/seat changed etc is what worries people about Modi.

I have always learnt that PM is a powerless post. the person has to go for approval to the sabhas and president everytime. Also I am not supporting Modi here ( have to say this these days :) ) but I am in favour of some sort of autocracy. Fear of your boss can make you do things right. It works so well in the corporate world. thats my personal opinion. of course the boss should have the right goals set

BJP should be thankful to Modi, if not for him, Advani would have finished the party in the last 5 years, leaving India to nothing but to select UPA again. Nobody has screwed a party as much as Advani did to BJP since Atal left.

Those are the facts. and again posting the truth is not being defensive. and never said you are a socialist or anybody is a socialist or that BJP is socialist. You totally missed the point. Its about pretending to be neutral about a particular party or being a fence sitter in general but actually supporting a particular ideology. That is what the BBC is. A wolf in sheep clothing (this is not jargon btw, its a metaphor) who pretend to be politically neutral while in reality they are left wing. I have no issue if the BBC come out and say we are left leaning media outlet. Its a bit like MSNBC, they dont pretend. They are left wing. Neither does Fox news, they are right wing. Then there are some anti-secular folks who don't like to see the way likes of Mulayam Singh operates or appease minorities. Then there are some who thinks riots of 2002 was right way to handle.. Then there are few who are straight anti-minority Then there are some business communities who liked the way Modi made progress in Gujarat

There are also people who have always been BJP for the last 20 years before Modi and will continue to be BJP after Modi.

Chauhan? if we can put these corruption claims aside, then I would pick anyone who can converse and communicate properly. May be Jaitley, May be Parrikar. May be Shivraj Singh Chauhan. I think all the possible PM candidates, Modi, Rahul, Kejru, Mulayam, Mamta - all are vey poor communicators in terms of putting your point across. Of course BJP cant afford it, they need votes on the Modi wave. He needs to learn to be less funny in his talks though. its not ICF. Its India to run :hysterical:
