KeyboardWarrior Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 ^^^ Lol .... its Cricket discussion , Isn't it?
Ultimate_Game Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 ^^^ Lol ... Bro why are you getting personal now ??? :dontknow: Not personal at all. I am simply stating what I've witnessed everywhere and in every job I've held. The say or power you have is proportional to the value you bring to the table. If A brings in more money/value than say B, C & D put together, then A will have more say than B,C & D combined. Simple and irrefutable fact and ICC is following the same. I was just surprised you haven't grasped this fact so far. Maybe you are still in school/college and haven't experienced the real world so far but I assure you that when you do it will be on lines of what I stated earlier.

G_B_ Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I dont know why pakistan are not self sufficient. economy of 250 billion and a country of 180 million. No other real sport. Hockey down the pan just like India. you should be able to generate 80-100 million USD through TV revenues.
alexander Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Money issue - agree with BCCI. Fixed relegation set up - cannot agree with that.

Call it "badmashi" or "might is right" but that's life and world in general. ICC and cricket will follow suit. As I said earlier, the amount of influence/power you get is proportional to the value/money you bring to the table. That's why you have US and China calling shots at global level and that's why BCCI is powerful in cricketing world.
Zero_Unit Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Some of you fans need to get your heads out of your a** before commenting. Cricket is the 2nd most famous sport in the world and that is due to the huge population from IND/BAN/PAK/SRI. Take these 4 nations out and you have a sport which is unknown even in the heart of TORONTO or NYC by a North American who would assume that you are talking about a bug. I understand why our beloved BCCI wants to push this plan through cause let's face it, we do bring in the most amount of REVENUE to ICC but if this plan goes through, cricket WORLD WIDE will suffer massively. Playing cricket here in Canada, I can already see why this would be a huge concern for the associates. Unlike in India, here we pay from our own pocket every year to PLAY 2 matches on the weekend (if you are lucky and that too only during summer) per week while working/studying during the weekdays. The pitches are horrible as hell. Grasses are never cut, holes on grounds, and I can go on. And the sad part is, Canada is among one of the top associate teams and they only get 70 thousand-ish (that's pocket money for DHONI) from the government because cricket can't thrive properly because of ICC's incompetent. All in all, we need to invest more money on associates and co and not cut down on shared revenue. If money must be cut, it should be from boards within the 10 test playing countries. Also, kicking out ZIM and BD from test will just hamper creating world class cricketers from both countries. For fudges sake BCCI, CSA and ECA look beyond your own pocket for once and look for the better of the game. Bunch of morons ...
Zero_Unit Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Less matches will be fixed B-> LOL more like pakistan will get all the opportunity to fix all the matches ...
The Outsider Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I guess BCCI cheerleaders are hurt at the walloping they are getting from the No.8 team which just got whitewashed by Bangladesh.
G_B_ Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 ^ if anything we want the money to be pumped into parts of India which dont have cricketing infra so as to bring more talent under consideration and improve the team. The away walloping just proves out point. The outsider, your from UP right? I mean 1 first class team for a state of 200 million. You really think anybody beyond the urban cities from say eastern UP has the infra to succeed?

Its the same for the world's third most popular sport rugby union. Even in Canada with its large expat community. surely there are enough in the toronto metropolitan area for you to form a big club and have a ground. Say 0,5 million people contributing $100 each per year. I am finding this really hard to understand. You can fund yourself if your organised and dont need handouts.

Oh bhai, UP is so poor and in such a pathetic state that cricket is the last thing on the minds of people here. Mentioning 200 million doesn't change the fact that 190 million are thinking about where the next meal will come from to bother about BCCI and cricket.

Even for the 10 million. One stadium in Kanpur (Green park) is just not enough. Thats the fundamental point people forget. Lets look at the graph for post a few posts above. BCCI is about to get $568 million. Per capita that works out to 568/1200 or about $0.500 per person. New Zealand cricket is going to get 75 million for a population of 4 million. That works out about $20 per person. The BCCI does get more money. But it has to cater to a lot more people. Its fair to ask for a bigger share considering its basically the money of the Indian public indirectly who suscribe or tune in to watch cricket.
G_B_ Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 and i would also like to point out. I do believe the rights are expected to go for $3.5 billion and not $2.5 . So with that evey board will earn more in nominal terms from the next ICC rights cycle from 2015 onwards to 2023.

It is fundamentally dishonest to create a per capita thing out of this. Generally (and there are exceptions, I know) people consider sports as a career in India only when they are financially secure to an extent (let's talk reality and not Chak De India). You can keep citing any figures you want, but the reality is people will not get involved in sports to the extent of producing Imternational level players till they are assured of roti, kappa Makaan to borrow a hackneyed line.

For fudges sake BCCI, CSA and ECA look beyond your own pocket for once and look for the better of the game. Bunch of morons ... Agree. The old method was basically taking a lot of money from the Indian market and spreading it and it doesnt change much in the new proposal either. Just that BCCI is taking 10% from the full members and 10% from the associate nations. Both are crap system.25% to develop the game in places where cricket is unheard of is just not enough. I feel that if the unfair system towards the BCCI was addressed earlier by the idiots that are talking now like mani and speed, maybe we wouldn't have come to this extreme. BCCI has gone full on bond villain mode with CA and ECB as its henchmen now. Maybe ICC should model itself like FIFA and have just the world cup every 4 years and use most of that money to fund the associates.
Austin 3:!6 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Ranatunga :nervous: :whine: World Cup winning former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga has criticised the proposal that has been put forward at a recent International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to restructure the ICC, giving Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Cricket Australia (CA) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) more benefits and power. Ranatunga alleged that the mooted move was undemocratic and that if approved the ICC will act like a political body than a sports body. Ranatunga suspected India’s hand behind the proposed draft and believed that England and Australia were just following the leader of the pack not wanting to miss out on the financial benefits for the three top nations. "It was India that played the key role in abolishing the veto system within the ICC. Now BCCI is taking the lead role in what eventually will be a system where without the big three’s consent nothing will work. Even Srinivasan’s son-in-law will not be banned from cricket activities because BCCI will object to such a move," Ranatunga told The Island. "The manner in which the paper was tabled and moves to hastily pass it suggests that there’s something fishy," Ranatunga added. "The proposed system seems to encourage bilateral series based on financial value. Let’s say that South Africa are ranked number one in the world and teams should be encouraged to play them more often, but the system that has been proposed encourages to play countries that have financial clout like India. In the end everyone will want to play India and BCCI will turn around and say who is suitable and not suitable to be CEO of other boards. What just happened to South African cricket is a case in point," Ranatunga put it articulately. "There are so many negatives in the proposed draft. Apparently the position of Chairman of the ICC will rotate between BCCI, CA and ECB." "I am not against change. But let those who are calling the shots look at other sports bodies and recommend changes. The US is not telling the International Olympic Committee members that we bring the largest revenue and hence we need more control of the IOC. The IOC has a history of over 110 years and only once has an American been President of IOC." "Due to the proposed system there will be no democracy and other countries will be at the mercy of BCCI. Australia and England merely will follow BCCI orders." "I can’t understand why you need to give importance to financial power only. What BCCI couldn’t do alone they are now trying to do by getting CA and ECB on their side." The way the Chairman of the ICC will be chosen seems fine compared to the fact that India, England and Australia will never be relegated and will play in the elite league always. The reason why these teams will not be relegated is said to be due to the lack of commercial value if these teams are relegated. "That’s actually funny," Ranatunga said. "Spain are the defending FIFA World Champions. In order to play in this year’s World Cup they also have to play a qualifying round. FIFA must be thankful that India is not a top football playing nation." "Why should cricket be different? FIFA is not saying that Brazil, England and Germany must take part in every World Cup because commercially the World Cup will be poorer without these teams. Give prominence to the game not to financial clout" "India got thrashed 4-0 when they went to Australia last time. India also got thrashed 4-0 when they went to England last time. What right have they got to say that they can’t be relegated because they bring more money. That’s illogical, outrageous and typical Indian." "From 1987 to 1990 in four years Sri Lanka played just seven Test Matches. After that, ICC’s Future Tour Programme ensured that there was equal opportunities for all countries. The proposed system will take smaller nations like Sri Lanka to the situation in 1980s." "Governments of India, England and Australia question democracy in Sri Lanka. What their cricket boards are suggesting has no democracy at all." "I fear that league based cricket tournaments will be more encouraged if the proposed system comes through and international cricket will take a back seat. That should not happen." http://www.island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=96568 :phehehe:
Sachinism Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 we believe the BCCI needs to invest more in infra around the country. There are huge sections of India without proper facilities. Its not as if Inda is a developed country and everybody has equal access to infra. Ohh K. Now it all makes sense. Poor BCCI have been struggling for money all these years, that is why we have average grounds with substandard facilities for the public. Nobody believes they're doing it for the good of cricket in India. All extra monies are going to be pocketed by those involved.
