Sean Bradley Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 How can any loss be beneficial to any team in any way, us fans are just finding excuses after this humiliation, the fact is, we lost badly, mainly due to horrifying team selections, Dhoni's messing around with fast bowlers for past one year, persistence with utter failures like Raina, I Sharma, Ashwin. This loss will only be beneficial if actions are taken after a loss, but i dont see anything changing, atleast under the Dhoni/Srini reign.

Australia learnt from losing against England in 2013, England learnt from losing against Australia in 2006/07, so yeah teams do learn. If they chose to now that's a question.

Has to be one of the worst reighn ever getting whitewashed everywhere yet this greedy corrupt guy does not care.

It seems like that only remember in 2006 we developed a losing streak and then won meaningless home series against Srilanka/Westindies and then we all know what happened after that but at that time our batting was poor bowling was descent.

Make supporting wickets so teens are encouraged to bowl fast. dude ,we have two bowlers who are bowling fast smacked around out there.there is no rocket science on bowling on these flat and slow wickets,just look at Kyle mills.you just cannot give easy runs to batsmen,make them earn every run but the fast bowlers have no control over line and length.

Our domestic structure is fantastic just need to tweak a few personnel here and there and we will be competitive everywhere. We still produce the best batsmen along with the aussies. I would still want turners at home for tests. Quicks can be shipped off for county stints and that's extremely reasonable. County is a bit of a problem now since they have restrictions on overseas players. Also that the BCCI doesn't let their players play for anything but Indian cricket. So doesn't help at all. I mean it could be possible to get a gig with a South African and Australian team though but the latter when it comes to bowling would be tough to get into. Panesar actually has been playing Grade Cricket in Sydney. A lot of international players come to play grade cricket.

Yadav and shami should get a few weeks of english cricket if they want to - can be worked out arranged for - in fact while we are at it wouldn't mind a spinner traveling as well. Their county season clashes with IPL I think

On the other hand, indian wickets have very low bounce hence its make it easier for batsmen to line up their shots. I am not saying make all green mambaz but mix up the pitches in domestic games.

I think Bhaji was the last of great spinners india had produced. On the other hand, pacers are really rare. You find few but the work load makes them cut down on pace. Look at Ishant Sharma, he was coached by wasim in IPL for couple of seasons but he didnt improve a bit. Why do you think that happened?
JourneyMan Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 No it's not good. Our batting lineup is correct, there aren't any major changes that we can make to improve it anyway. Bowling hasn't been good, but apart from Ishant most of the selections were reasonable. We don't exactly have great options. A good team is one that gets results with the players it has. This is what we have, now we have to figure out how to get the best out of the team. When I look at our T20 wins, WC win, even some test wins, our XI also had weaknesses and vulnerabilities but we managed to maximize our potential. We need a fixed XI with a few backup players for the next year or so otherwise we won't stand a chance. The team needs a year to play regularly and put together a proper strategy. Losing the way we have been at the moment isn't good news at all.

We have green pitches in domestic games but along with that, curators also need to prepare pitches which help seamers for test matches too. Only when seamers bowl to test class batsmen and try to get them out, they will get better but they need helpful conditions and not rank turners. Otherwise, they will remain as seamers who could chip in with the odd wicket and not main wicket takers. But BCCI will never allow that as they don't want to lose home advantage and lose to visitors.
