Gave 25 runs in batting pp and slog overs in 24 balls. You don't expect a 6-match old bowler to have bag of tricks. He bowled good full deliveries and there is nothing better than a good yorker.

And has also killed Reverse Swing in ODIs. A bowler like Shami would be highly effective under the old rules. Reverse Swing was the reason Zaheer was potent in the middle overs in the 2011 WC campaign.

Absolutely dumb,the Bcci must have slept through that meeting or more likely didn't understand the implications before it was late.
kubrickian Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Dhoni is a disastrous captain when the tracks don't assist spin. Even on a green track, he will bring on spinners after 10th over, give away easy runs and allow partnership to build, allow the game to drift and let them score 300. Yes, I agree our seamers are not particularly good and inexperienced but Dhoni doesn't have a clue how to handle them, guide them or make proper use of them. If he doesn't change his ways, it will be a disaster in World Cup and also on tracks which don't help spinners. This has happened too often already but he doesn't seem to be learning. Its better if he steps down and let someone else do the job.

Leaving SA match, India has to play against Pakistan, WI, Ireland and Zimbabwe - none of which have any better record than what we do. If we can finish second in the group, we might get SL or Eng in the QF and that too, doesn't look too daunting task. By the SF, the pitches should start to help spinners and we may have a turn-around.

We are easily the best side under pressure due to the exposure in IPL to extreme pressure situations regularly.Most will under estimate India as usual but with the WC format guaranteeing QF for us , we will reach final as long as we avoid Australia imo.
