Glad to see we are being gracious in defeat. Wrist slitting and name calling had started on the padosi forum and people were whining about umpiring decisions forgetting that umpiring helped Pakistan to a great extent in both their matches prior to the Indian one. Well played yesterday Pakistan, great game. Hope Pakistan win the final, otherwise Sri Lanka will tie us with 5 Asia Cups (Pak have only 2).

Never liked the idea of bowling spin in the death unless you have someone like Narine. Ajmal did will today but with 15-12 in the last over to defend' date=' Narine>Ajmal. I wanted Kohli to use Shami against Afridi when he got in or the last over.[/quote'] Kohli should've bowled a 3-4 part time overs - that would have given him some cushion. Over reliance on full time bowlers is not healthy.

@ Detonator' date=' wasn't Tendulkar bowling seam up in that match? Can't view the video right now, but he rarely bowled spin that early in his career.[/quote'] Yes, he is bowling seam up, medium pace (kinda slow though). Posted it as it makes a mokery of death bowling.

That was medium pace - just had a couple of slower balls to Alan Donald.
Yes, I thought u were asking a geniune question. :giggle: but bowling medium pace in last over is twice as riskier than bowling spin. :haha:

And your way to answer a genuine question is to show Post #2 which is not spin. :whack:

Ajmal to Hussey in T20 semis spring to mind. 17 runs ? But then the pacers too have been clobbered for runs.I think Bresnan gave the required 16 runs in first four balls in last over versus Australia.Nehra is another example in some ODI.

Why are Indian bowlers so poor in defending totals ? I have never felt confident about Indian bowlers defending any total. If its an under par score, you can forget about it. Its quite the opposite when we are chasing. Even when we set a big total, bowlers usually let the game go till the end without finishing the opposition off. Our bowlers simply lack the confidence and match winning ability. They cant handle pressure and especially crumble when a batsman starts attacking a bit or when a partnership builds. This is another reason why we dont do well in death overs. Bowlers lack the mental strength to do well under pressure.

South Africans were poor players of spin bowling when they were reintroduced into cricket. Once they got accustomed to spin, you rarely see a Sachin like performance against them.

I thought the bowlers did well the last couple of matches under Virat. 245 is below par and they did well to take the match to the last over. We'd have probably been on the winning side if a pacer had bowled the last over or if the boundary ropes were where they should be.
