BCCI to review away performances | Can Duncan Fletcher be sacked?

Recommended Posts

The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has labelled Mahendra Singh Dhoni's comments as "personal opinion" after the national team's captain said beleaguered coach Duncan Fletcher still called the shots and would lead them into next year's World Cup. "I have not spoken to Dhoni and so the BCCI will not like to react to his comments," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told Reuters on Monday about Dhoni's comments on the eve of their one-day series against England which appeared to undermine former captain Ravi Shastri. "However, it seemed to me as his personal opinion." BCCI has labelled Dhoni's comments as "personal opinion" after the Indian captain said beleaguered coach Duncan Fletcher is still the "boss". (Getty Images) Shastri was appointed as director of cricket for the one-day series as part of a coaching shake-up following the 3-1 Test series defeat. The appointment had created questions about Fletcher's role after bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding mentor Trevor Penney were also given a 'break' for the series by the BCCI. Sanjay Bangar and Bharat Arun were made assistant coaches and R. Sridhar named as fielding coach. The 52-year-old Shastri, who played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India, said after his appointment the team staff, including Fletcher, would report to him. The 33-year-old Dhoni, who leads India in all three formats and captained the side to their 50-over World Cup victory at home in 2011, however said Fletcher was still firmly in charge. "Definitely he (Fletcher) will lead us into the World Cup," Dhoni told reporters in Bristol on the eve of the five-match series. "Also he is still the boss. "We have Ravi (Shastri) who will look into everything, but Duncan Fletcher is the boss. It's not as if his powers or his position have been curtailed. "I don't know what you feel from outside, but still operations remain the same. "We have a few other support staff who come into the dressing room, but overall the operation remains the same." http://ibnlive.in.com/news/cricketnext/bcci-calls-dhoni-comments-on-fletcher-as-personal-opinion/494165-78.html

Duncan Fletcher's Fate to be Decided by Ravi Shastri's Report Under-fire India cricket coach Duncan Fletcher's fate at the top job is expected to be decided by the BCCI after it receives Team Director Ravi Shastri's report on the England tour, the Board said on Sunday. Fletcher, who was appointed coach in April 2011, came under intense criticism from several quarters after India's 1-3 Test series loss against England, and there was speculation that the BCCI may show the Zimbabwean the door though his contract runs till the end of next year's cricket World Cup. An official, who attended the informal meeting of the BCCI in Chennai, told PTI that the Board will take a call on the Zimbabwean's fate only after going through Shastri's report. "Fletcher's fate will be decided by Ravi Shastri's report, which will be tabled at Working Committee meeting on September 26. On Sunday, all the members discussed that one should not go by media's knee-jerk reaction. The media that blasted Dhoni after Tests is praising him after the ODIs," a source said. http://sports.ndtv.com/england-vs-india-2014/news/229473-duncan-fletcher-s-fate-to-be-decided-by-ravi-shastri-s-report-sources Looks like Shastri at the end of the day is taking no half measures and is tightening the screws by taking this down to the wire...

Ian - We can have a fixed date and time with an announcement from the mods. The thread will be stickied up. Some of us can help you co-ordinate. Does that sound good?
Or we can ask members to put their questions now, compile them and do a sortof interview on an agreed date

Thanks Ian. Looking forward to hear from you. Lord, Real time or not can be decided by you mods. Make a decision and let me know. I can co-ordinate with Ian for timings and verifications etc. I have sent him a PM explaining the procedure. I have suggested next week as a potential date for the AMA.
