G_B_ Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I thought our spinners bowled extremely well in this tournament
Midfielder Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 He is still the best. Ashwin has not proved crap.
nsareen Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Ridiculous !!! He has played against parvez rasool, and he is known to give flight and turn the bowl, obviously he is not a 19 yr old but still young, simply because he is a Bishan singh bedi's Ward, the reason bhajji doesn't want to speak about him... ami123 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 he has to say this to make himself look as though hes stiill in the running
jf1gp_1 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 i dont think he has seen the spinning sensation dhoni uncovered and kohli is backing .. rayadu
rkt.india Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Aamir Gani and Kuldeep Yadav ae two big hopes. I hope they are guided well after they graduate to senior level and do not lose their strengths.
King Tendulkar Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 400 plus test wickets. The lack of respect he gets is worrying
shortbread Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Lol.....Bhajji is trying to convince BCCI not to look for young spinners!!

Kuldeep Yadav, yes. Amir Gani is okay. Doesn't look special. I heard the Karnataka spinner also looked good.
Magneto Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 What happened to Harmeet Singh? Wasnt this guy suppose to be the real deal His career is on the crossroads now. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/top-stories/Harmeet-Singh-snubbed-again/articleshow/26828029.cms
rkt.india Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Kuldeep Yadav, yes. Amir Gani is okay. Doesn't look special. I heard the Karnataka spinner also looked good. I found Amir Gani better than Kuldeep. Has brilliant flight, loop and turns the ball as well with a good control and also has a doosra without chucking and bowls like Saqlain used to bowl. He will improve in terms of his speeds as he gets stronger. Kuldeep lacks control. Gopal has done well too for Karnataka, still needs to improve though in terms of variations.

Control will be an issue for a wrist spinner. But I like the way he mixes them up. Also, Yadav seems like someone who can run through a side, but I didn't see that in Gani. Their FC journeys anyway will make all the difference. Gani will be playing for a team (if he can crack it) that does not support spinners and he will just be reduced to a filler in the state side.

Yeah, mostly wrist spinners can run through a side but at this age, not many spinners can do that. Gani right now is very slow in the air. He must get better. Regarding his future in state side, I already said BCCI must ensure they do whatever they can to nurture these 2 guys along with likes of Shreyas Gopal and Murugan Ashwin from Tamilnadu (both leg spinners). I had read somewhere that BCCI is going to hire likes of Prasanna and Maninder to help young spinners.

But how does BCCI ensure that they get adequate support from their state sides to showcase their talent? Harmeet Singh is nowhere now since he has a fight with his state management. The Saurashtra spinner bowled briliantly in last year's semi-finals and was then dropped in the finals. Gani is Bengal's U-19 captain, but Bengal's Ranji Trophy plan is completely pace-oriented and spinners are just fillers.
rkt.india Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Every team at least plays one spinner and Gani can be the one for Bengal. Even Kuldeep will find it difficult to get his chances because of Chawla as he can bat. Harmeet should look for somewhere else.

Easier for batsmen though. There is always one spot to grab. Harmeet had gone to Vidharbha but I don't know why he didn't get a game.
saneindian Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Harmeet's deal with Vidarbha got cancelled after his name surfaced in the spot fixing saga (claimed he was approached but he said no but did not report it to the team management).
