Not immediately - his record in Test matches has been excellent. Moreover, Smith has always been a man to leave on his own terms.

Top player. He was brilliant at times and ordinary at times. He would yield some brilliant innings along the same passage when he is having an ordinary run. This is what made him superior at times. He would score when not many would think he will. As his stats suggest, he was one of the best openers of recent times. Gambit it put it nicely that he was at times more Aussie than South African, the kind of attitude he showed on the field. Huge loss to RSA cricket after Kallis. Both will leave a big hole. Brilliant cricketer.

OTHER TEAms can learn not to chop and change captains

I think most teams have stable captains. India for nearly 7 years, Pakistan Misbah has been captain for a few years now. Mathews appears to be stable. England are sticking by Cook, Clarke has been in operation for nearly 3 years now.
