maniac Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 yes yes your team riss :hysterical: dont think abdv will accept invitation:finger: Don't wake me up :--D As I said AB is top 5 in the world but noway No 1 in any format for the matter of fact....I can pick 5 better batsman than him in each format
Old guy Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Don't wake me up :--D As I said AB is top 5 in the world but noway No 1 in any format for the matter of fact....I can pick 5 better batsman than him in each format and none better than him in all 3 which is what thread is about :two_thumbs_up:
maniac Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 and none better than him in all 3 which is what thread is about :two_thumbs_up: by that logic Dhoni is the greatest captain (WHich some Dhoni lovers use anyway)....Won T20,ODI wc and was No1 for a brief moment but doesnt make him the best does it :giggle: Lady Jaya is also good across all 3 formats :winky:
Old guy Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 by that logic Dhoni is the greatest captain (WHich some Dhoni lovers use anyway)....Won T20,ODI wc and was No1 for a brief moment but doesnt make him the best does it :giggle: Lady Jaya is also good across all 3 formats :winky: lady jaya is no where close to abdv as test batsman but i will take him in any final match ..even though lankans are chokers this guy produces his best in finals :hmmm:
maniac Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 lady jaya is no where close to abdv as test batsman but i will take him in any final match ..even though lankans are chokers this guy produces his best in finals :hmmm: You wanted to do a curve across all 3 formats :dontknow: What is ABDV's T20I stats anyways :cantstop: 4 50's from 51 games
Old guy Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 You wanted to do a curve across all 3 formats :dontknow: What is ABDV's T20I stats anyways :cantstop: 4 50's from 51 games we all know what he can do but international t20 are farce i am sure he will really get into his best in this world cup :nervous:
Old guy Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 anyway there are no 5 batsmen better than him..you can have your favorites but not many are clearly superior than him in tests or odis . i will have him for different situations than others ..if i wanted to save a test match i will take abdv over kohli anyday..yes this sounds strange but this is one guy who can block all day without caring baout runs like he showed in adeliade and in recent test match also i will take him over others when you want pure slogging and 20 runs of overs dhoni is obviously better at finishing and kohli is much better at his role but lot more orthodox he is one guy who can surpass abdv but it will take 2 years . in tests you can make case for sanga but i really do not remember many great innings form him he just bullies bad bowling sides on flat tracks. amla is contender and i think he is better than abdv in tests but these are really dependent on ur preference one thing is sure that he is complete player and that i think what Op wanted to compare .
Crookbond Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 you can count them on one hand and this is for home grounds for a batsman who has played 200 tests almost 45 to 50 percent will be at home right ? and this is one of the greatest batsman of all time. do you think abdv is bad batsman of spin? his recent inning in uae was great against quality spin bowling on dry track and i am not even gonna count the easy ones ..is he complete player or no ? No - I think he's an average batsman against spin.
Old guy Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 No - I think he's an average batsman against spin. i used to think so 3 years ago ..he had many technical problems and lose technique even against swing but he has changed a lot and if you had opportunity to see how easily he handled ajmal, swann and obviously indian spin bowlers (which are not really benchmark )you would change this opinion he is obviously no going to be as good as subcontinent counterparts but to me his game against spin bowling right now is totally complete ..from reading the ball from hand to using the crease and being able to attack and defend ..he does everything and results show it earlier he had habit of struggling against bounce now a days he even deals with it bby paying late and i am sure u are aware how he dealt with swann and ajmal with strategy to just have off stump guard and totally smother the spin (this is something out batsmen can learn specially some one like kohli )
Crookbond Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I meant touch about average or good in some situations. I don't think he's an "excellent" batsman. I think Amla qualifies that tag in SA. I can't think of anyone else who is "excellent" against spin.
rkt.india Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I voted no as i have seen abdv struggle against sreesanth outswingers and the way he used to open him up it was atreat. But on his performances currently across all formats you have to say he is the best. That was ages ago when he was pretty new in 2006. Same way, you can term even Kohli a poor batsman against pace saying how he struggled in WI test series against short balls of Fidel Edwards. There is no batsman who is not susceptible to moving deliveries. Players improve over time with experience and ABDV is certainly the best right now. He is on another planet to others. This test series was a great testament of that. He never looked in any trouble against the same attack, his other teammates struggled. You can sense how easily he was handling Johnson.

I can't think of anyone else who is "excellent" against spin. I think u need to see how he is batting now cos I don't want to sound like fanboy but I have rarely seen any batsman look so much better than others palyibg the same match and this includes players like Clarke,Amma,Warner ,faf etc and this guy looked to be batting on different surface and against different attack which can do nothing and on other end batsmen are jumping and getting injured and retiring ..
Sidhoni Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Yes he is.. But 2 good series for Kohli in Eng and Aus and you never know
Old guy Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Yes he is.. But 2 good series for Kohli in Eng and Aus and you never know Kohli needs to be co sisters for atleast 3 years to even be considered as best in world in tests otherwise some one like Williamson has already showed he can play everywhere. Kohli is better than him but he is still a youngster in this format imo
Sidhoni Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Kohli needs to be co sisters for atleast 3 years to even be considered as best in world in tests otherwise some one like Williamson has already showed he can play everywhere. Kohli is better than him but he is still a youngster in this format imo Auto-correct I guess? Can't you turn it off? :P Yes to match ABDV Kohli will need to show he can perform consistently but he can be considered in that league if he performs well in both Eng and Aus. That will really establish him as one of the better batsmen going around.
rkt.india Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Kohli needs to be co sisters for atleast 3 years to even be considered as best in world in tests otherwise some one like Williamson has already showed he can play everywhere. Kohli is better than him but he is still a youngster in this format imo Kohli averages 51.40 if you exclude his first 3 tests in WI with 6 100s in 21 tests and the kind of innings he played in SA against Steyn, Morkel, and Philander, he is certainly not far behind.

Sidhoni Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 you are the mascot :P Vo toh IPL ke liye, not for tests
