Ganguly's sucess coincided with Bhajji,Zak,Sehwag,Yuvi's emergence. Dhoni's spiral coincided with them fading away That is more connected than you think.

I know Dhoni sucks with his defensive tactics. But don't put Gangu on a pedestal. As a captain i hated him more than Dhoni. Let us not even go there. I got into blogging just to criticize his captaincy.

that is utter nonsense' date=' india beat kenya in semis.[/quote'] So what does that have to do with anything.....Kenya reached semis due to fluke agreed does that mean India reached the semis due to fluke too?

ONe dedicated forum was created "Ihateganguly" to oust him . This was pre facebook' date=' pre twitter era.[/quote'] Even there are hateblogs for SRT and that too in India...Hell lot of haters from India on this very forum,so wouldnt go by that. The way he hanled the team after the 2000 match fixing scandal is commendable in itself.

I still remember the frustration of losing almost all finals under Ganguly. Today these fans call these series/cups win meaningless. :giggle: If only.. they could relive those heart-breaking moments again... For all his aggressiveness, Ganguly just had Natwest to show. MS has 3 ICC tournaments and numerous multination cups

lol at the ganguly hate.. the guy had the DESIRE and COMMITMENT to make a change. He was sick of losing overseas like we are all sick of losing overseas. We lacked quality pacers or they werent selected yet he brought in a crop of pacers. FORGET how they are now or whether they declined after 1 season, at least he gave players a try. As for his bias, all captains have it. But it was no csk, rhiti connection bias. And look who he backed.. yuvraj, bhaji, sehwag, zaheer. atleast they went fighting. weren't perfect but if this current team had a captain like ganguly we could do something much better than what we do now

let us be honest Indian team played one elimination match in 2003 that too against Kenya where as in 2011 India had to play three to win. 2011 it was so pressure packed home team needing to win at any cost.Other than lifting the cup everything was failures in 2011 and they had handled that pressure brilliantly that too with one and half bowlers. Winner will always be greater than finalist.

Yep like beating SL-Pak in Asian conditions.. oh wait we couldn't even manage to do that.. :giggle:

When it comes to ODI cups and tourneys and finals - MSD is the boss But test matches home and away - Ganguly as captain and player.
MSD's problem is peaks are extreme.. Either very very good.. or very very bad. Gangu was more like in between.. like a new zealand team if you can. Anil Kumble played pivotal role abroad. We are yet to find someone as good as him to do well.

No I 'm not......Ganguly changed the way we think. Tell me which leader you will rate. Say you are comparing a country's economy and political stability across different eras.. Would you rate a leader who pulls the country out of crisis or the guy who is currently the head of state in it's golden age....remember economy is the criteria. Apply the same analogy
Of course you are! You are rating reaching the finals of a tri-series with the 3rd team as Zimbabwe over a CB series win against Australia that is way past trolling the point. I credit Ganguly for "change in mindset" but I don't think it was Ganguly's idea. In the end, silverware matters. The WT20 2007 and CT 2012 was virtually won with nobodies. Yes, the WC 2011 team was great but the foundations for ODI wins at home should go to Dravid on that front, I wouldn't call Dhoni a great captain but there has to be something about him and silverware. The biggest legacy of Ganguly is as a Test match captain, particularly overseas.

You guys know this douchebag Sanjay Jha? He was the biggest supporter of Ganguly in 2005. cricketnext.com.
If I'm not wrong, this is the same person who is now a national spokesperson of the Congress. He regularly appears on TimesNow debates speaking for the Congress. http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=174847103&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=VnNT&locale=en_US&srchid=251913061394576632266&srchindex=1&srchtotal=1&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A251913061394576632266%2CVSRPtargetId%3A174847103%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary https://twitter.com/JhaSanjay http://sanjayjha.com/hamaracongress.htm

Same guy :hysterical: The language he used was very crass. Wonder if we can get hold of his cricketnext articles on Ganguly.

Then there is one filthy website called cricketnext. Man this guy Sanjay Jha must be the biggest joker on the face of the earth. This idiot has a split personality. One day he would say one thing. Next day he would contradict the same! This is the same guy who said Tendulkar should be dropped before first one dayer against Srilanka since Ganguly was dropped. When he scored a scintillainting 93 he came back to shower his praises how important it was for India's comeback. He would stoop to any level including making up stories out of thin air, creating controversy theories, writing ridiculous analysis and what not to show his faith towards Ganguly. He would label the legendary cricketers like Dravid, Tendulkar as traitors and cowards. A coward does not play 93 test continuously. A coward does not get scared and run away from looking at greenish pitch. He would be blame anyone who stand up against Ganguly. Sometime i wondered if Sanjay Jha is Ganguly himself. This was from one of my 2005 blog.

What happened to your blogging ability on poor captaincy. .....srini mama pour yellow colored cement on your keyboard :cantstop:
Dude.. that underlines the fact Ganguly was much poorer nothing more. Dhoni is poor in lot of areas. Ganguly was poorer. That is why i laugh when you guys put him on pedestal.
