He has made in to so many all time XI much before he played for 20 years. Wisden rated him as the second best after Bradman back in 2002. But yeah, ignore all that. It is just longevity, blah blah

And that honorable network and website created a special award to specially give it Sachin. When was the last time such an award was given? When Lara, Ponting, etc. retired? When will the next one be given? May be for players who retire in 2014, 2015, .... :cantstop: I would have had no problem if they had just given it to Sachin, who is amongst the deserving candidate. Espn just needed to say that cricinfo staff believes that Sachin is one, why create this farce :dontknow:

What is point of longevity if you are not performing, Sachin did jack after world cup in 2011 and he was playing on as if performance matters nothing as long as he was enjoying the game. This notion that Sachin did not win more because he was on bad team is bunch of baloney, Did anyone stop Sachin from hitting two centuries in the same test or scoring more than 500 runs in 3 test series.

Sachin had one of his best years in 2010 and had the highest average in matches won when India reached no 1 in tests. He took too more years because he felt he still had something to contribute. Didn't work of course Sachin might not have done those things (scoring 500 runs in a series) but he did do lots of other things Fro example scoring 490 runs in a 2 match series which were more the norm for India in the 90s than 3-4 match series And know, as I said, so many of our matches turned into draws because of our bowling. Hitting even two double centuries won't help when your bowling cannot take 20 wickets Finally, when so many different kind of jury members, in so many different lists. From Bradman to Richards to Wisden to cricinfo, always place him higher than his peers, it is time to concede there might be something to it. We are not talking about one or two lists here. We are not talking about 1 or 2 opinions. We are talking about the great players to ever play, the most respected critics. And I would say there opinion is worth a tad bit more than ours

They actually waited till Kallis retired... He was the last player of that generation. And it was Espncricinfo players of the generation award...Others can also come up with their own awards ....
