But Dravid has the ability to improve the technical ability of our batsman. The least i expect Fletcher to do is contribute with the improving the flaws in technique of players.

Great players don't neccessarliy become great coaches. So will get walked over, does not matter how good he coaches batsman when 2 days in field and oppo piles on 700 declared Scape goats and papering over cracks

Yet in classic stupidity the indian fan falls for the trap and goes after the coach Completely agree. Coach is just a puppet in Indian cricket. They all come and want to earn as much as they can because they know they cannot change anything so just shut the mouth and enjoy the show behind the stage. Wright, Kirsten, and Fletcher all did the same. I do not know what different Kirsten did with the team. As a coach, it was Kirsten's job to prepare the team for post-fab era and disaster struck soon after 2011 WC as he left. He did not enough for the team. He was just thriving on good form of some players. He just happened to be there at the right time. I cannot blame Fletcher for England fiasco in 2011 because he was new. Every thing that followed after that was just an extension of our lack of vision and preparation during Kirsten era, once our old guards went out of form, we did not have anyone to fall back upon. We should make coaches accountable, give them more power in team selections, player identification, building bench strength, and watching domestic cricket during the FC season if at all possible. If any coach is willing to do that, only then, he should be applying to be India coach. You cannot dole out millions for coaches just to travel with the team. Actual work of a coach is before the series and in off season.

The likes of Rahane have made the final push under him and Samson is now coming to the fore. I have no doubt that the Indian batsman will improve their techniques under Dravid. Which will be crucial for India away from home. Lets keep in mind we lost of the first test in NZ cause we collapsed to 202 in the first innings. Some of the shots and technique in that test match was abysmal. We need a Dravid like person to make the players better in terms of concentration and technique. A coach is simply not about tactics. Yes Dhoni will make the tactical calls and selections. But atleast Dravid will improve the general quality of batsman

Just because you are a great player does not make you a great coach. Larry Bird comes to mind.
