Desi Cartman Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Arjun kapoor and the useless gali-fest at the end was pathetic. The idea is to be funny not to just talk dirty and gaali galoch. It was good in sections, I think they started well and the big dude was funny. His stuff was well written, it had the right timing and didnt appear to have been a mixture of gaalis. As someone above said that its usually friends who speak along with few top comedians but here it was like a panel of comedians. For me Indian jokes are still funny in hindi, I dont think its natural for me to laugh on english jokes being told by Indians in India. Maybe Im not used to it. BTW roasts are for "successful" people and I'm not sure if Kapoor saab can be called that.

I think roasts are for washed up people who are sell-outs and were famous once upon a time. William Shatner, PamelaA, CSheen fit the bill perfectly. Arjun and Ranveer are just starting their careers. Shakti Kapoor, Govinda, Mithun, Amisha Patel are ideal roasters in HFI.

Kapil Sharma has made a name mostly on this style of amazing comedy I for one am glad they are trying something different. I am sick of seeing cross dressing on TV. They might be posers now, but they will learn and evolve It is sad that this is the other extreme alternative to Indian comedy. Indian comedy in the past was never Slapstick based...Indian comedy be it Hindi or any other languages is mostly observational humor,Play on words and Satire. While Seinfeld is considered a pathbreaking show in the west(Beleive me I am a huge huge fan of that show), Indian shows like Waghle ki Duniya etc. already did that kind of observational humor. Also Kapil Sharma or Raju Shrivastava as comedians are better than this poser brigade who take the cheap road of a)trying to insert "F" words or other gaalis...apparently that makes things funnier or b)Try to Ape the west with smart oneliners and puns in English or should I say Hinglish which is just super lame in my opinion. Anyways without trying to deviate from the topic,the AIB roast was embarassing to watch...not for the foul language but just watching a group of posers trying too hard.

I am not saying they cannot do certain stuff. I think the videos should not have been taken down. It is just that it was mostly unfunny and most of them were coming across as a bunch of losers trying too hard. Subtlety is what they missed as pointed out by coffee_rules.
