DHAKA: The Bangladeshi hosts of cricket's World Twenty20 threatened to ban local supporters Tuesday from stadiums if they are seen carrying the flags of any of the other teams competing in the tournament. The order came after an outcry over images of locals waving Pakistani flags during the recently concluded Asia Cup, also held in Bangladesh. A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) spokesman said the board had issued a directive after it "noticed that some local fans were flying foreign flags flouting the country’s flag rules". "We've received instruction in this regard," the spokesman told AFP, without clarifying. "As such we've ordered security officials and guards to make sure Bangladesh fans cannot carry or fly flags of foreign nations in the stadiums." http://www.dawn.com/news/1095506/cricket-board-bans-bangladeshis-from-flying-rivals-flags http://tribune.com.pk/story/687146/bangladeshis-banned-from-flying-rivals-flags/

Their team isn't giving them reason to celebrate...why not let them celebrate other teams.I can understand some people being sensitive if BD team is also playing...but why ban when neutrals are involved?

Posted

this is due to lot of mullahs waving pakistani flag during neutral matches and jersey too and theres big fuss about this among general public fueling over this incident due to what pakistan did to bd and millions of people died to kick the pakistani flag out of this country. just picture indian waving pakistani flag in indian stadium. If bd fans were carrying any other countries flag or jesery say australia, nz or even india, this wont even be an issue at all. but since bcb cant come out ban only one flag(paki), which would be an obvious anti paki, they are going put a halt on everyone Btw this is totally govt motive and not done by bcb. hasian govt is anti paki to the max, her dad was tortured captured sent to prison by paki militants. they favor india and also her dad was the founding father of bangladesh who lead the bengalis to fight against the pakis.

its the same as pakis waving indian flag in the pakistan or indian waving paki flag in india. Each three of us ****ed with eachother in the past. Cant blame the bengalis.

Indians who were in favour of expelling Kashmiris for shouting Pakistan Zindabad would be called hypocrites incase they criticize Bangladesh
why do you always pop up in these threads i dont see you commenting in any other cricket related threads.

I find it weird to see fans waving flags in the stadium anyway.. Supporting a sports team != Patriotism. A national flag is the nation's symbol and every country would have laws to ensure it's national symbols aren't disrespected. So yeah, can understand the ban as it's the country's own citizen that is waving another country's flag. But anyone should have the right to support any team they want though.

If Bangladeshis are stupid enough to wave flags of a country that killed thousands of their own people and had to fight for freedom from them only 3-4 decades ago then they are the idiots. As per the law, its stupid to ban people from supporting other teams though

plus this month especially this week being the week when pakis started killing bangladeshi in mass number doesnt help either. 26th march is independence in bangladesh. seeing pakistani flag waving by bengalis at this time of the year, you get the picture.

thousand? 3 millions + went on to hunt and Killed the intellectual citizen of higest order in the society one by one before leaving the country so bangladesh can never prosper again.
The Liberation War of Bangladesh began on 26 March 1971 and ended with the liberation of Bangladesh on 16 December 1971. On December 14, sensing an imminent defeat, the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators—Razakar, Al-Badr and Al-Shams—abducted and killed front-line Bengali intellectuals and professionals to cripple a newborn nation intellectually.[4] Renowned academics, teachers, litterateurs, doctors, engineers, journalists and other eminent personalities were dragged out of their houses blindfolded and were killed before dumping the bodies in Rayerbazar, Mirpur and other killing grounds in Dhaka just two days ahead of the final victory of Bangladesh's liberation war.
