ShebbySB Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 We should really think of sending the A team & play some quality FC games. The team should get selected based on FC performances. This is my team:- KL Rahul,Jiwanjot Singh,Zol,Kedar,Rayudu,Saha,Rasool,Rishi,Pandey,Umesh, Pankaj.Reserves:-Baba,Samson,Dabholkar,Aaron.
BlueBee Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 My team would be Kedar KL Rahul Kedar Samson Rayudu Saha wk Rishi Rasool Umesh Nechim
jf1gp_1 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 didnt we sent an India A to SA before the recent test series where we didnt win a single match ? I am not against the idea of sending the A team absolutely we should but to expect it will help us do well in the test series is an unfair expectation.
G_B_ Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 i dont think there is time. After the ipl we basically have 3 weeks.
tweaker Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 To late to send A team. The players will be fatiqued after playing in the IPL

Remember 1996, we had a new team and we couldn't even compete then.
SLICKR392 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 They all have played in England before. Pitches would be different to what we had in CT. An A tour would have been nice.
Pagalpanti Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Dhawan, Pujara, Rahane I recall have been to a couple of A-tours to England and scored big runs as well. Instead of a A-tour. I hope BCCI actually asks for a couple of practice games vs good county sides ahead of the series. But I doubt anything is going to change in this regard.

There will be 2 warm up games prior to the Test series.

Pagalpanti Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 There will be 2 warm up games prior to the Test series. Well that is great then, but are they farcical 2 day warmups like we had last time or proper 4-day games? Also we should hope weather doesnt ruin our warm ups.
moniker Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 We don't really have any open spots in the team right now.. Except maybe for fast bowlers but frankly I think Umesh and Shami should be shoo-ins, Umesh's spot has been unfairly rotated between him and Ishant. A-tours should only be used to prepare youngsters for the future, not as practise matches for important away tours. If players who are certain to be picked for the India XI are selected for A tours then the whole purpose of these tours will be defeated.
saneindian Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I think this year the A team will visit Australia for a full tour. 2010 - Eng 2012 - WI and NZ 2013- SA
Trundler27 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 this would only be of benefit if anyone from that A team actually has a chance of making the senior side..... So if at all, the A team should definitely include guyz from our batting line-up to gain any benefit for the senior side.

You think Vijay has done enough to merit a long run in the test side?We need a fresh opener along with Shikhar.
ShebbySB Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Dhawan,Pujara,Kohli,Rohit,Rahane,Dhoni,Ashwin/Jadeja,Shami,Umesh are sure to play in the 1st test.2 remaining spots are 1 opening slot & 1 seamer.I really hope Zaheer doesn't continue till then & we don't play Ishant there. So it should be BK as he swings the ball & will be handful in English conditions.Vijay will be there but I feel he has got lots of chances but hasn't done enough. We need an opener pretty badly. If Vijay plays the tour should be his last chance.Reserve players should be:- KL Rahul,Rayudu,Saha,Ojha,Ishant(highest wkt taker in the NZ series),Pandey.
