Sangakkara chasing Sachin in tests

Why concentrating on 100s alone..? I'd rate Dravid's twin 50s at the WI minefiled in 2006 that helped to win the game for India much higher than some of his oversease 100s.
True.Even Lara praised dravid for his batting on that pitch.

Sanga played 122 tests and out of which he has played 90 tests in Asia, so stats will be dominated by Asian conditions. He has done very well in Australia and NZ, if you add one big hundred each in England and SA which he is fully capable off of scoring next time he plays there his stats will become great as sample size is too small. As batsman he has no perceived weakness and has great technique and temperament. It is his bad luck he plays for small team, if he had played for any big teams he would have been portrayed at least as greatest left hand batsman to have ever played the game along with Sobers.
Good post. Sanga is one of the best test batsman around and even being a left hander, he surprisingly has a very sound technique which you dont see often in left handers. Even 10 years back, I knew he will be one of the best in business in time to come. It is not his fault that he has not played enough outside SC. Sample size for him overseas is not huge. Even Dravid was failed on his first tour to Aus.

I just realized SL players not playing this year IPL and instead Jayasuriya scheduled test series against England at same time, followed by test series against SA, Pakistan etc. Overall I see Lanka playing more tests this year. Jayasuriya sneakily backstabbing India, but telling outwards they are with big 3.Sangakkara always lamented that they are not playing enough test cricket for last 2 years. So if lanka plays 12-13 tests every year, I can see Sangakkara overtaking Sachin in next 4 years in tests, form and fitness permitting.
Facts first, SL has played total of 56 tests since T20 era began (2007), i.e an average of 8 tests per year. Recently even that number is coming down, last yr they played just 4 tests. Sanga would need atleast 6 years at peak form to overtake Sachin at this rate. Not possible.

Yeah you are right , evil BCCI forced SLC and other boards to cut down tests for SL team so Sachin can keep his record.

At this point SL is playing 9 tests this year.Check cricinfo today. They will play more as things go. They have already cut down IPL this year and playing more test cricket.

You guys use very filthy and abusive language across all posters here. Not sure why mods are still letting you guys post.Shame really.

Yeah because you say so
No, because stats says so. An avg of 53+ and most runs by an Indian batsman overseas (Aus, SA, NZ, WI & Eng). So, its not just him saying so.

Neither you nor me would know how well he would fair overseas had he played more games. But as of now his performance overseas hasn't lived up to his avg. AFAIK, the LOI stats away from Asia aren't that good either. There, its quiet clear he is an Asian might. Sanga chasing down Sachin's runs would only do injustice to Tendulkar's runs that he scored all around the globe. Its not like he's gonna do it anyhow unless he's got a bucket full of games in the SC.

I actually think he has done well away from home..not comparable to best of best like tendulkar but pretty damn good Also there is nothing in his technique that suggest he is not good enough unlike jayawardene to me he is great of game easily just not as good as Dravid or people like him Also if you compare his stats outside Asia and ponting's inside Asia i think he will come out as better
